Badlands – an adventurous day trip

It’s a wonderful world and we don’t have to go far to enjoy it!

There are so many interesting places to go in Southern Ontario for taking fantastic day trips, such as …

The Badlands, an adventurous place near Toronto that looks like you’re on another planet: huge, rolling terracotta clay hills and valleys, perfect for young explorers like my grandchildren!

Badlands 2013Ever since we discovered the Ontario Badlands, we make sure to go every summer especially when we have visitors.

Spanner topA touch of matchy-matchy, I added flower accessories: earrings, pendant, belt and purse.

Do you have any interesting places you like to go to for a day trip?

If you played hide and seek amongst the flowered shrubs or tall flowers, there would need to be a time limit….with your camouflage clothing, no one would find you!
I remember your previous blog on the Badlands….(last year?).

  2. Wonderful pictures! Brings back memories of when I was at the badlands (with you!). Such a strange landscape, isn’t it?

I like your look too. It’s not too matchy 😉 The purse and necklace look great with the top, and the stripes break it up nicely.

Thank you Jean! That was my first time too when we went together in 2007. I will add a flashback wearing the crocheted top you gave me (but don’t look at my socks!).

I’ve always been a bit matchy-matchy and have learned from you that I don’t have to match everything, but I got hooked on matchy-matchy as a child and in my teens I made (and bought) and wore so many matching tops and bottoms! (remember the one you wore for Halloween? I’m leaning that way again. HELP!!

      Happy Friday!

You should go! You live closer to the Badlands than me! Great for a photoshoot for us fashionistas, eh?

The hat is my sun protection, I can’t wear sunscreen. I usually have a flower on it but I thought that might be overdoing it.

      Happy Friday!

Absolutely wonderful, post, landscape and your look. Even if your look is not very adventurous. LOL. I have a confused image of Ontario, I always think its lakes and forests, but you’re great places discovering myself. Thank you very much. My visit to Ontario will have many attractions. Your outfit is simply brilliant. I love the shirt, with lovely floral print. And your hat gives you a breathtakingly beautiful look. I love the detail at the waist, and you already know, I love this bag. The ballerinas (who could dress them better?) and floral pendant, are very pretty. All perfect and charming, but, as always, the best of post, is your smile.

Thank you very much! I am a fashionista, we always wear stylish clothes wherever we go! 😉 This is actually a casual and comfortable outfit. My top is cool cotton, only the pattern and belt makes it look fancy or it would be a very plain shirt. The black pants are cotton with a little lycra for stretch and they are more comfortable than jeans. Accessories always complete an outfit, as you know and have commented on these details. The hat is my sun protection to keep my skin nice.

I know you have many wonderful places to go for day trips, living so close to the beach is fantastic! What is your favourite place to go? Mountains, beach or cities like Barcelona?

      Fashion is fun! Happy Friday!

Catalunya is beautiful, I could arrange to you, a visit that combines everything you say, the beach, the mountains and the city. The Pyrenees, Tarragona our beaches and shopping in Barcelona are a great combination. Catalunya is a wonderful country to visit and to live.

Carmen those rocks look amazing, yes like from another planet. And you fit perfectly on it with your beautiful outfit. I specially love that flower necklace. I got some earrings of Spanish hand made blue flowers and they look gorgeous specially dancing a Tango….
I shall look for out of this world places around London (when I take my sister round soon).
    Have a fantastic day Carmen!

Thank you dear Ute! Amazing is right! Your blue flower earrings sound beautiful and the Tango is wonderful dance. I teach three Tango line dances in my classes and you don’t need a partner! Who says it takes two to Tango?! I can Tango solo with a whole group! 🙂 I should post a Tango on my Dance Page.

Have a memorable time with your sister, always fun to share adventures with the people you love!

      Happy Friday!

We were just talking yesterday about a dream trip to NY, Niagra Falls and Toronto…then on to Ontario. Waiting for the last child at home to be self sufficient and at least 17 years old. One more year!

My husband was laid off last year for a short while so we decided to do a bunch of local stuff that tourists normally do. We had a blast of a week. We road the Duck, which is a tour on land and water, then a dinner and show at the Teatro Zinzanni which was fantastic. We also went to a local winery for a concert. That week we also went on a balloon ride.

This looks like a very interesting place. I’ll remember this post some day when we’re planning the trip. You look adorable out there in those Badlands too. That is such a happy purse and top!

Thank you my dear Joni! You’ll love my corner of the world when time and money permits, but it’s good to enjoy the places close to home in the meantime.

I rode the Duck–it was AWESOME, a very memorable experience while in Seattle. Our driver was hilarious and quite an entertainer! He pointed out the house used in the filming of “Sleepless in Seattle” while we were on the water. (One of my favourite romance movies.)

I’ve never been on a balloon ride, that must have been a thrill!
