Ever since my trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake this summer, I’m loving lavender. In fact, all shades of purple. I love lilac blossoms and violet flowers. This is not really a new love, but rather an old love rekindled. As a child and in my teens, mauve was my favourite colour.
The Lavender Boutique was a feast for the eyes, the heavenly fragrance filled the air! It’s impossible to express with words the emotion it evokes in my heart! The colour and scent brought back delightful memories. I even started singing the song, Lavender blue, dilly dilly, lavender green in my mind. It was a nostalgic moment; I enjoyed my little journey into the secret corners of my mind while I lingered in the shop.
Sitting in a secret garden tucked away at the magical art gallery of Angie Strauss.
This photo reminds me of a Claude Monet painting: soft, blended colours, dreamy and surreal. How fitting that this is in the English country garden of Canadian impressionist painter Angie Strauss.
I inherited this lovely skirt from a dear friend of mine who passed away several years ago. Janet was the one who introduced me to Niagara-on-the Lake. I had never been there before and she raved about it. She had a talent for home decor and was always in style with a fabulous wardrobe of romantic outfits.
Janet bought a dozen of these bonnets for our dance group. I feel like a Southern belle.
I even bought new lavender and green cushions inspired by my visit to Niagara-on-the-lake. It’s a lovely day for breakfast in the treehouse this morning!

I loved reading this Carmen. It’s so special to have these sentimental clothing items that remind us of our dear friends who aren’t with us anymore.

Niagara-on-the-Lake…lavender…what a coincidence!… We visited Niagara-on-the-Lake on the first week of September, when my son and his wife (from Seattle) came to us for a short vacation. We had an enjoyable walk there and we stopped at Lavender Boutigue too… My mother loved the wonderful lavender perfume. Whenever I feel that familiar scent, I look around to see my mother…God rest her in peace!

Thank you Ileana!
Seems we like some of the same places, like Elora and Niagara-on-the-Lake. How true, that certain scents bring back the precious memories of our loved ones. Moms are a real treasure and it’s wonderful to keep them in our hearts and thoughts. I miss my mom too and it will soon be 12 years since she passed away. I have peace in my heart because I believe she is safe in the arms of Jesus!!
Love and peace,

I love lavender too and have some growing in my yard. The bees are drawn to it too. I’d love to see an entire field of it! You look lovely and I’m glad you can keep Janet’s memory alive by wearing her clothes and writing about her. She was a good friend to you and it must be hard to have lost her.

Thank you Jean! I should plant some lavender too.
It really is a good way to have something tangible to remind us of people in our lives that have passed away. I always admired this skirt on Janet but never expected it to be mine one day. She was only 55–too young. ❤

Me too I like the lavender, I have one plant in my house, and I love the color purple. My favorite time is the violet hour, when the sun was just hiding. The photos are beautiful, and your skirt is cute inherited. You look great with it, elegant and casual. The hat is very beautiful and looks perfect in the outfit. I love, too, your shirt, with tie on the back. A wonderful post, I can almost smell it.

I love lavender too. I often dream of painting in a field of lavender in the south of France. (sigh)
