SAVE THE DUCK!

April Fools! It’s NO joke! This is April in Ontario. I was hoping to put away my winter coats for the season but we had another snowfall. There’s a lovely nature trail through the forest behind my house and it does look beautiful with freshly fallen snow.

My cousin and friends in Germany are sending and posting photos of spring blossoms. My fashionable blogging friends are showing off their lovely spring outfits …

 meanwhile in Canada …

I’m still wearing my SAVE THE DUCK puffer jacket. At least it’s pretty in pink and I’m wearing floral jeans and pink boots, perfect for spring, right?

Tam O’Shanter: upcycled and handmade by me
Jacket: Save the Duck (no feathers or down)
Jeans: United Colours of Benetton
Boots: faux suede (over 10 years old)

I made my Tam O’Shanter when I was a teenager. It’s upcycled from a skirt that I outgrew. My mom taught me to upcycle because they did it during the Depression and WWII (not that they used the term upcycling back then).

Jean and me in our SAVE THE DUCK puffer jackets: weightlessness and fluffiness, so warm with wind protection, drys rapidly, two-way zipper and zip pockets, machine washable.

Best part–it’s 100% ANIMAL FREE Outwear – “We replaced goose down with state-of-the-art technology, PLUMTECH®: it is warmer, more breathable and lighter. We have a daily commitment: to improve the sustainability of our company in full respect of the animals, the environment in which they live and the people who live there.”

How’s the weather in your neck of the woods?

spring is here

  1. After a few sunny days, we’re having mild rainy weather on Vancouver Island. I love you whole winter outfit, especially the pink puffy jacket

Thanks so much! It’s my favourite jacket. The snow is melting and I’ll be glad if I never see it again. Glad spring has arrived on Vancouver Island. We have talked about moving to BC. Perhaps someday. 🙂

  2. I feel bad for you Carmen! Our snow is gone now and signs of Spring are starting. You are pretty in pink with the puffer Jacket , boots and the floral Jeans. I love that you upcycled and made the Tam O as a teenager! You and Jean are styling in your Jackets in Seattle. Wishing you a nice and hopefully warm weekend, Terri xo.

Snow is melting! Spring is in the air, it won’t be long now. When I saw Jean in this jacket, I wanted one too, I love her style and I love her store! Glad you like my Tam O’Shanter, I used to sew a lot in those days. Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy the weekend:-)

Thanks so much! I love the enchanted forest and it does make a lovely background with sugar-frosted trees and a blanket of snow! ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄ ❄

What a beautiful, delicate and soft look! I love the color and the pattern. This soft pink has always been a perfect color for you. The pants are cute, I really like the pattern. The beanie looks beautiful on you and I really like your boots. This week I was also in the snow, snowshoeing. But here the weather is already spring, to find snow we have to climb more than 2000 meters.

Thank you very much for your lovely comment! Pink is my favourite colour lately, especially this soft pretty shade. You’re fortunate to have spring already and yet snow on the mountains, so you have both whenever you want. 🙂 WOW!!! What a height to climb, take care! You have the best of both worlds! 🙂

Lovely snow, still Spring will be there soon, hopefully. I am off to Germany on and off for now, as my mum passed away yesterday. Sad things to do and arrange. There is supposed to be snow on Wednesday there too.

We just had 2 inches of snow on Saturday….but luckily it’s pretty well melted by today. It’s like we say…springtime in the Rockies!!

Thank you Jodie. I used to have fun making pompoms with a fork and yarn. The photos in the forest are from yesterday but hopefully the snow will melt by the weekend.
