ALL ABOARD!

Take the last train to Clarksville Elmira.

Train Ride

I love making memories and the slow train to Elmira, Ontario was just the perfect adventure to make a wonderful summer memory for my grandson. He had never been on a train before and this old steam engine takes us back in time; the railroad car we were in was made in 1923. We watched the beautiful countryside through the huge open window and crossed the Conestoga River on a high bridge.

I wore my colourful, multi-patterned skirt. Each panel has a different print and I love how it flares.

We stopped at the little town of St. Jacobs and got off to see this 99 year old steam engine.

No time to stop and shop in St. Jacobs (after all, my grandson came for the ride–not to shop).

Make some summer memories!

Lovely photos! Train photos was nice surprise to me. I love them, because when being a young I worked in the locomotive of local factory as switchman. 🙂

That must have been a wonderful little trip: almost 100 years old wagon, beautiful views, abandoned track! Lovely skirt and you look as beautiful and young as always!

Thank you so much Olga! This train went so slow, we almost could have walked faster! But that way we could enjoy the scenery better. Next I will be taking a super FAST train (ICE) from Stuttgart to Berlin with my daughter Jean in August! I’m soooooo looking forward to the train ride of my life!

      Happy summer!

Yeah, another skirt for “skirt work” during square dancing……

Track not in use….hence, the storage of railway ties across the track……

I got a call today from Jim inviting me to the 50th anniversary of Galt’s Swinging Eights. This skirt would be great for the square dance celebration, unfortunately, I will be in Germany.

      Happy dancing!

Thank you Ute! I do agree, taking time to make memories is worth more than toys. It can be a simple trip to the park or a bike ride together that we can look back on with fond memories!

We have an Essex county in Ontario, it is the southernmost county in Canada and named after Essex in England. There’s a myriad of names from Britain and Germany.

Hope you are making some lovely memories!
