New Year’s morning began with sleeping in; an ancient, well-known beauty secret! Mornings start when I wake-up and I am fortunate not to have an unnatural, annoying alarm clock startling me and interrupting my dreams!
Next, an enjoyable morning of brewing up a batch of healthy, hearty vegetable soup, all from scratch. This soup is one-of-a-kind because I don’t measure, I use what vegetables I have, and a pinch of this and that. While the pot simmers, we’re off to the snow-covered hills nearby to enjoy a winter activity of tobogganing.
My grandchildren enjoy the outdoors and after we’ve all had enough fun and fresh air, we’re hungry and ready to head home for the savoury, hot soup waiting for us. The aroma of the blend of veggies and spices welcomes us into a cozy, warm house and we all gather around the table for a family dinner.
Next day–a nice indoor activity–shopping, of course! Christmas trees are still in their glitter and glory at the Mall. I wore my white faux fur which I get a lot of wear out of.
A stop at a thrift shop proved worth-while — I found this monochromatic rose design blouse to match a belt, necklace and earrings that I already have. $6
What a thrill to spot this unique pinstripe skirt from Le Chateau (made in Canada) for only $12. –still new with its original price tag of $69. attached. I hadn’t planned to wear them together but decided to try it. I don’t often mix patterns but I think this works.
Le Chateau is a very fashionable Canadian store, rather high-end. This asymmetrical, patchwork skirt is so unique and well-made.
I can wear the blouse open, like a jacket, with a variety of colourful tank tops to add a pop of colour like red, yellow, turquoise, purple or orange.
Add accessories and I’m ready to go out for afternoon coffee with a friend!

Thank you, Jeannie! You’ll make a gorgeous grandma! My grandchildren call me ‘Mimi’ – it was my grandson (six years old now) who started calling me that when he was first learning to speak and I liked it so much! Sounds younger than ‘grandma.’ Just recently I was at the mall and I heard a little girl call, ‘Mimi’ to an older lady. I asked the lady if that was her granddaughter and she replied, “Yes.” I told her that’s what my grandchildren call me, too!!! 🙂
