Dear Summer, I miss you!

You are my favourite season and I hope to see you soon. Your warm breezes caress me. I love your long days and pleasant evenings. As soon as you return, we shall once again dance in the moonlight and enjoy the starry nights sitting on the porch. We’ll run along the beach as we used to. You always make me so happy!

 Port Dover

I prefer to spend time with you, dear Summer!

Please, come back soon!

carmen

beach viewWe’re in the middle of winter and it seems like Summer is so far away. Now that I’ve lived through 66 winters, I don’t like winter anymore. I’ll admit, the magical view, that looks like a giant snow globe outside my window, is breathtaking, but when I go out, the frigid air takes my breath away! I’ve hung up my skates for good, sold my cross-country skis and I use my sled as a decoration on my front porch.

I’m breaking up with Winter, he’s no friend of mine.

I’d rather be on the beach relaxing on Muskoka chairs!

The best thing to do …

wear warm flannel pajamas and stay in bed.

Carmen, I agree. Winter! Go away! Snow is beautiful, snow and cold is terrible. I laugh when people in Southern locations get snow and it melts quickly and they say it’s great. It’s not so great when it snows and gets bitterly cold for days, weeks or months in a row.

As a snowbird in training I can’t wait for the day when I can decide how long I want to be in the snow and cold.

I’m with you Carmen, where are you Summer?

Oh, I love Florida in the winter! I have wonderful memories of escaping January in 2012. It was like a dream to leave the snow and cold behind and arrive in the land of eternal sunshine! It was like a nightmare leaving Florida on a warm, sunny day and a few hours later shivering to the bone, back in our deepfreeze. 😦

Hope to visit THE SUNSHINE STATE again some winter.

My dear Carmen, besides being a beautiful and stylish woman, you are a great writer. Your words evoke all the wonderful sensations of summer in you. I understand you, I suppose living in Ontario with temperatures below zero and so much snow must be hard. In Catalonia, my country, the winters are mild and mild. If we want snow, we have it, but we must climb the mountains. Even in winter we can stroll along the beach and smell the sea. Some brave people bathe all year, I only half a year. But your post evokes other things, especially the white of your summer dresses, the elegance and beauty of your looks, all that wonderful delicacy that defines you aesthetically and personally. I also want summer to come to enjoy all that …

Thank you kindly my dear Josep-Maria! It is my desire to express my heart with words, as you also express your thoughts and are an excellent writer, especially since English is not your mother tongue. You already know that winter in Canada is harsh and that I much prefer warm weather. It is a deep longing to escape winter forever, but it seems an unreachable dream. I have had that opportunity many times in my life, to be in a warm country in winter, and it felt like paradise. You are very blessed to have mild winters and yet be able to climb the snow-covered mountains when you wish!

The first photo with me walking along the beach, was the last time I saw the sea and had my toes in the sand. I had to say farewell to summer.

I look forward to wearing my white sundress again and to walk barefoot on the beach at sunset!

Here, it’s the opposite. I love our mild, wonderful Arizona winters and I dread the oppressive heat of summer. I wouldn’t mind being a ‘snowbird’ and spending summers up there and winters back here! 😀

That’s a fabulous idea Karen! I have several snowbird friends and I envy them; some go to Arizona, some to Texas and some go to Florida. My hope is next winter – California, here I come! For you it would be better to come up here in summer, just as the birds do. 🙂

  14. I am with you Carmen! I am not a winter fan , I realise we must go through it to get to the first signs of growth in spring. I don’t like the intense heat summer can bring but I am done with winter! Have a lovely rest of your weekend, hugs , Terri xoxo.

You’re right about the intense heat of summer, it can be very draining and uncomfortable at times. However, winter is downright painful! I’ve fallen on ice a few times and I hate shovelling snow and scraping ice of my car. My car has gone on strike and refuses to start. The only thing I can find to be glad about is that I have a warm house. 🙂

      Stay warm!

I can understand you so well, dear Carmen…
But the summer can also be unbearably hot and humid…
So the seasons I like most are spring and autumn…

I agree dear Lu, summer can bring some unbearably hot and humid days, but I prefer them to this wicked cold. Spring and fall are wonderful times of the year with many mild and pleasant days. The problem is, spring in Canada lasts three days and then it gets cold again, then hot, then cool. It’s so changeable that we never know when it will finally stay. It seems winter and summer are having a fight. Winter does not want to leave and suddenly summer wins! With fall we can enjoy lovely days, but it can also get cold and we’ve had snow in October. Then an Indian summer and days can be pleasant again. So the safest time of year is summer when there’s no chance of snow! 🙂
