Winter in Kincardine in black and red

I bought this black and red windowpane check coat last autumn and it’s perfect for spring. With temperatures rising after a brutal winter, I love taking a walk into town and stroll along the shores of Lake Huron, my new home.

It’s hard to imagine warm sunny days as I look out on the icy lake and barren trees but it won’t be long before spring arrives.

  1. Hi Carmen! that was a wonderful autumn purchase you made getting the windowpane coat ! It brightens everything up in your photos along with the pretty red boots . I cannot believe they are 40 years old, you looked after them well. It sure looks icy now along Lake Huron but I know from previous posts how nice it will be in a few short months ! Lovely photo of you and the other Lady by the Canadian flag , God will protect your land . Have a great week, Terri xo.

Thanks so much Terri! They are my favourite winter boots, toasty warm with a unique zipper that wraps around and I love red because it’s bright and cheerful! I do look after my things, always clean them after I wear them. The young lady is a new friend, we met recently. 🇨🇦

It’s snowing again today, but spring will come someday! 🙂 I’m trying on some spring and summer clothes to get inspired. Haha!!

I love your coat, it’s beautiful, the print is very pretty. I love the whole outfit, your Frenchified beret, the game of red with black so much yours, all very cute. And how cold in your new home! Beautiful but harsh landscapes. Carmen, as always, you look really beautiful, because you are beautiful.

Thank you so much Josep-Maria! You are quite right, the landscapes are beautiful to look at but too cold to be outside for very long for my deicate skin. My toes freeze and I get chilled to the bone! I am a warm weather woman! 🙂

The winters are getting unbearable and we are hoping to go south for the winters in the future, to be snowbirds like many of my retired Canadian friends. That’s fantastic that you got the keys to your new house! Looking forward to seeing it! Enjoy your garden!

Gosh, that coat is fabulous Carmen. It stands out wonderfully against the white of the snow and white sky.
AND the red boots are amazing too.

Thank you Jodie! We need bright, warm colours up here in the north! I take care of these boots because I want them to last forever. I only wear them once or twice every winter.
