Layering is a great way to add extra warmth when you need it. However, sometimes wearing a sweater worn over a turtleneck is too warm. The solution when you need a little extra warmth … dickies.
I remember having a dickie when I was a teenager. It created a layered look without the bulk. I bought a red one and a black one for myself (Northern Reflections Canadian store) and I thought my daughter Jean would like them too.
Perfect to wear with my Covered Perfectly top (YES! COVERED PERFECTLY is BACK under new management). Founder Pauline Durban has retired and Kimberly saved the day! An American company owned by a woman.
“A company dedicated to providing flattering, and comfortable clothing for mature women.”

Covered Perfectly tops are perfect for leggings because they are long enough. There are so many styles and colours to choose from, you’ll be sure to find one (or two or three!) BUY TWO get ONE FREE!!
Jean is wearing her red dickie with an oversized black sweater and grey jeans that she bought about 10 years ago on one of her visits home. She added a grey hemp scarf from her eco-boutique DRIZZLE and SHINE in Seattle and a pair of Roma rain boots, imitation alligator design!
Love this pop of red!
Thank you Jean for being my guest to show how we styled our dickies!
ROMA boots is a wonderful American company in Texas.
For every pair of boots sold, a new pair is donated to a child in need.

I went to Covered Perfectly, but their sizes do not go up to my size. 😦 I did send an email about that, and that you sent me. I put the link to this post.

Thank you for checking out COVERED PERFECTLY and sharing my link. That’s too bad they don’t come in your size. 😦

Awww thank you, glad you like my styling. We were only “together” virtually. Jean sent her photos from Seattle and I am here in Ontario. Our Style Challenge is about showing different ways to style something.
Here’s a Style Challenge from the last time we were together in Seattle and we both bought pink jackets. 🙂 🙂

I don’t know the word Dickie, but I gather from your writing it is the red poloneck you are wearing under your black jumper. Being that a Dickie, I can say I love them as in Winter I like to feel warm on my neck. I got some second hand from my sister as se does not like them anymore. And I bought two new ones for work as it is rather cold there. Lovely to see your daughters on your post. Hope she can do enough on line sales for her wonderful shop to get through this time.
Best wishes to Jean.

Thanks so much for your good wishes! I’m not surprised that the term “dickie” is not familar to you, as there are many words that are different in Britain and North America. For example, you say “jumper” while we say “sweater” and you say “boot” and we say “trunk” (of a car).
Here are 3 types of dickies …
Dickies can only be worn under a sweater or as you call it, jumper because they are fake. 😉

I see, so it is really just for show and not keeping you warm all over just the neck. My mum used to have something like that. I actually have real garments like the roll neck sweaters I wear underneath when it is colder. Thanks for explaining this. ♥

Yes, it’s to keep the neck and chest warm which is useful with a low-neck top. I also have roll neck sweaters (or turtle neck as we call them). Stay warm dear friend! 🙂

Always wonderful when you play with black and red, with leggings, with plaid … Red, really, looks perfect on you. I love seeing your daughter, she has always been a worthy heir to your style
