Home for the Holidays

On Christmas Eve, snow flurries were floating through the air like a huge snowglobe being gently shaken and by Christmas morning it was a magical sight indeed! We celebrated Christmas with our youngest son, our oldest son and his wife, and our three grandchildren. Our daughter Jean called from Seattle, and we can thank Alexander Graham Bell for inventing the telephone!

Relaxing at home in my new Covered Perfectly top which arrived just in time for Christmas. I was so disappointed that this American company–founded by Pauline Durban–has closed after 7 years. I’m glad I was able to purchase this red top before they closed. I have featured these tops on my blog several times through the years because they are so comfortable and stylish and I love supporting American companies.

I bought these leggings last year at a Christmas market. SweetLegs are super soft and comfortable too. The print has colourful VW beetles and vans with little evergreen trees. The red booties are 25 years old.

What’s in the mug?

Creamy Vegan Eggnog Smoothie

  • bananas
  • cup of oat milk
  • tablespoons walnuts
  • teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

My granddaughter and her mom made Christmas cookies.

Christmas is not just a day, it’s a season and we are having a peaceful holiday, thanking God for His many blessings!

Wishing everyone a healthy, happy New Year!

And to all a good night!

❤ carmen

Indeed, it was a lovely Christmas! Jean moved to Seattle in 2000 and we’ve only seen her for Christmas once in 2006 when we met up in California. Usually, we see each other once a year and she had booked a flight last May, sadly, it got canceled. Now it’s been two years since we were together when we went to Seattle for a month in January 2019.

      Blessings! 🎄

Lovely to see your decorations. The ‘Krippe’ looks rather German similar to the one my mum had, so nice to see. Here in London we were not allowed to come together at Christmas. So we had a quiet Christmas, my son who still lives with me, and all others on the wonderful phone or via other technology. New years eve will be the same as the figures in the UK have risen extremely high. So I rather be safe and stay at home with nice homecooked food and hot tea. Wishing you and your family a happy new year!

Thanks so much! The Nativity figures are made in Italy. Perhaps these same ones are sold in Germany. They are made with a high-quality resin and handpainted. I didn’t want china (which can break or chip) because I let my grandchildren play with them. Sounds like a peaceful Christmas and here’s a toast for 2021!🍷

Ein guten rutsch ins neue Jahr! 🙂

How beautiful your pants and how beautiful your whole look, where red, that color so yours, plays a preponderant role. I loved that punch recipe you propose, I’m going to try it. How old is your granddaughter, I’ve seen her grow up on your blog! Your house looks beautiful at Christmas, every year you decorate it with that delicate style of yours.
I hope and wish you have a good new year and that you are very happy! A big hug.

Thank you so much for your New Year’s wishes and lovely comment! 🙂 I enjoy decorating at Christmas and I will leave the decorations up for January because it makes me happy! My granddaughter is 11 now, how quickly the years go by! I hope you will try my recipe and I remember the horchata made with tiger nuts that you told me is popular in Catalonia. I must buy some tiger nuts. Please send me a recipe that you like. Lots of love and HUGS!

Thank you so much for sending the red top and I’m glad it arrived for Christmas. The vegan nog is sooo good! Let me know how you like it. Her hair is beautiful and she’s grown quite a bit since you saw her 2 and a half years ago. ❤️

I think this is the first time your hair is longer than mine in a long time! 🙂
