Birds of a Feather

My BFF is Maggie! We are birds of a feather, whether dancing together or enjoying tea parties with our grandchildren. We love fashion and we love thrift shops. She is more than a beautiful and talented lady; she has a heart of gold! She inspires me! It’s no wonder I imitate her!

I LOVE LEGGINGS and practically live in them at home and wear them in my dance classes. When I saw Maggie wearing these leggings with this fascinating feather design, I wanted a pair too! The colours are so vibrant!

I have not been able to find the same ones but while shopping near Toronto one day, I spotted a similar pair in a pop-up shop full of leggings. The problem was that they were on a manikin high up on a shelf, unreachable without a ladder. They had piles and piles of leggings with dozens and dozens of designs, so many fabulous looks!

But these were the only pair left with feathers. I was persistent, perhaps annoying, but determined to get them.

After politely asking if I could buy them, the saleslady told me she didn’t know where the ladder was. I think she thought (and hoped) I would go away. I went away and came back, and kept returning asking if she found the ladder.

Being as sweet as I am, and to my delight, she found the ladder. She climbed up and I helped her as she handed me this fairly heavy manikin. I thanked her profusely like I’d won a prize! I know she appreciated my gratitude and now has a funny story to tell about the lady who wanted these feathered leggings.

To imitate someone is to pay the person a genuine compliment.
