If you are reading my blog for the first time you’ll find out immediately that I support SLOW FASHION. In a world filled with cheap, throw away, fast fashion–which is bad for our environment and even worse for the garment workers–we can each do our part to help.
Thrifting is one way of helping to keep clothes out of landfills and save money. Then we can spend the money saved to support small businesses that sell quality, eco-friendly and fair trade clothing. Thus, I bought this new necklace from a small boutique while visiting Fort Erie, Ontario.
This top has an asymmetrical, abstract design with black sleeves: makes it look like a vest and goes great with black pants. These ones bought at least 12 years ago. The shoes are from a clothing exchange party, making this outfit completely SLOW FASHION.
Top: Thrifted
Necklace: Village Boutique in Fort Erie
Pants: Le Chateau (12 years ago)
Shoes: Maggie’s clothing exchange party
Compassion for people, animals and our planet.
It’s super cute, Carmen! I actually love those kind of outfits.

You look divine in that outfit! I’m an SEO consultant and could use something similar, not overdressed and not too fashionable either. You have a great taste 😉

Thank you so much Debby! Such a fine compliment because I like simple style. I do like to look fashionable as opposed to frumpy, stylish as opposed to outlandish, as you put it–not TOO fashionable because I don’t want to look overdressed or ridiculous. Simplicity suits me best! 😉 Having said that, I prefer being a little overdressed rather than tattered BF jeans and an old T-shirt. 🙂

You never know what you will find when you sift through an aisle of clothes in a thrift store Carmen! This top is unique and gorgeous on you. Always nice when it can mimic a two piece. I hope you are in good spirits, sending you big hugs, Terri xo.

Thanks so much Terri! it can be time-consuming to search through all the racks full of clothes (my husband has more patience than I do) but it’s so fun to discover that special item and buy it for a song.
I thank God for health. Hope you are keeping well.
Blessings!

Oh, you look lovely and this post cheered me up. I am a supporter of slow fashion too, meaning I never buy new clothes and I simply utilize a core wardrobe of timeless classics (I hope!!). I only buy if I need to replace something, which probably sounds boring to most people. Anyway, right now I really needed cheering up so I ordered two new dresses online. They arrived and I’m so happy. They are in the pink and floral family and have lots of lace. I look forward to wearing them when I can leave the house again.

Thank you very much Jane! I’m so glad my post cheered you up. And I am so very happy that you are also a slow fashion supporter! I hope you’ll have an occassion to wear your lovely new dresses soon. Pink, lace, florals–sounds like something I’d love! ❤️ In the meantime, why not wear them to one of your tea-for-two parties with your husband?

A very nice look, with a beautiful top. You know that I love your fight for solidarity, it is wonderful that in a fashion blog the protagonist is such a person committed to improving the world. You are beautiful in the photos.

This is something we share, to make the world a better place for everyone. As much as we love beauty and style, we know it must not be at the expense of others who suffer needlessly. I’ll always remember your post when the Rana Plaza building collapsed and so many workers died. This is a tragedy that can be avoided if we all care about who made our clothes, and buy from ethical companies who provide good working conditions and fair wages to their employees. I was very happy that these matters were important to you and I feel the same. This will remain our message! 🙂
As always, I appreciate your comments and support so much! 🙂

Always stylish and beautiful, great with slow fashion. I am still wearing some of my mum’s, which are probably 20 or more years old. Found a lovely vintage handbag, a find fit for a Queen- style. I will use it one day. 🙂
Do stay safe Carmen. Many safe hugs from me. ♥♥♥

Thanks so much Valerie! 🙂 Fashion is fun and it’s a huge industry that employs millions of people. Fair trade, ethical and eco-friendly should be something everyone who wears clothes should think about. All we need is compassion to care about who made our clothes and be good stewards of this beautiful world God made for us. That means we have a responsibility.
