A new decade of fashion – 2020!

It’s been 100 years since the flappers changed fashion: the Roaring ’20s when hemlines were raised and waistlines were relaxed. Gone were the days of huge ornate hats and constraining corsets. Thank goodness! Some things are passé for a reason.

Vintage styles—whether genuine vintage or vintage-inspired—have grown in popularity this century. I love how we can borrow fashion from different eras, that’s one of the things I love about our times.

Some things never go out of style, like lace and ruffles.

When I bought these wrap pants last summer with my fashionable friend Maggie, I knew I’d have lots of tops I could wear with them; everything goes with black! We had so much fun doing a photoshoot together as you can see HERE if you missed it.

I just love the style of these wrap pants with ruffles: so comfortable, perfect for dancing and my tattoo tights. Here are some of the tops I’ve paired them with.

I wore this red top with a lace neckline to a Christmas party.

Black and white is always a classic, inspired by my fashionable friend Maggie.

This pink lace top was thrifted and looks great with black.

I can wear any print as well as solid colours. I love the style of this polka-dot blouse for a chic boho look.

All black is dramatic for my New Year’s outfit. It’s a tradition that I wear black for New Year’s parties.

It will be interesting to see what styles will be popular during the next few years. Have a Fashionable New Year!

What did you wear for New Year’s Eve?

Do you like vintage styles?

Wishing you blessings of health and happiness for 2020 and beyond!

  2. Hi Carmen yes it is now 100 years since the flapper generation! They definitely did change fashion for women forever. The pants are fabulous on you and all the many tops that you can put with them. The Red Top was really nice to wear to your Christmas party I bet! My favorite is the white with the subtle polka dots. Very cute. It will be interesting to see for sure the fashions that will be coming up. I’m hoping that the 1950s Styles will be up there! I didn’t really get too dressed up for New Year’s Eve we just stayed home and had some friends over. Wishing you all the best in 2020, Terri xo.

Thanks so much Terri! The Roaring ’20s was certainly a time of drastic fashion change for women. With vintage being popular, I believe we’ll still be seeing ’50s inspired styles, fit and flare dresses, also, ’20s and ’60s shift dresses. Relaxing on New Year’s Eve with friends and family is lovely too. We had many of those times when our children were young. 🙂

As we didn’t go out, I was just wearing black trousers and a warm jumper. I was lucky to celebrate with my sister. You look fabulous in all tops, my favourite is the polka dot blouse, I just love it! Happy New Year! ♥

Thank you so much for your lovely compliment! How pleasant to have a cozy celebration at home with your sister! Teaching dance means I get asked to do parties and New Year’s Eve is always a favourite. I do weddings, birthdays and other festive occasions. I love to dance and celebrate!

  11. What a great idea! I have never thought about wearing tattoo tights for dancing. It looks so great when the leg shows and the print gets revealed. A real head turner. Thanks for the inspiration. Happy New Year.
