Road Trip to a Lavender Oasis

We took the road less traveled on this amazing summer afternoon to a lavender oasis in Southern Ontario.

My love affair with lavender started many years ago as a child and was rekindled again when I started buying lavender products: from candles and fragrance sachets to lotion and shampoo. The scent is heavenly! It’s a healthy addiction!

St. Jacobs Farmers Market has a lavender booth; MiKel’s Lavender OasisMike and his wife Kelly are owners of a lavender farm about an hour from where we live. What a delight to be in a lavender garden!

They have a little shop in a rustic old barn. Anyone know (or remember) what this machine beside me is?

Life is good and lavender makes it sweeter!

Take time to smell the lavender!

  1. You look stunning in this outfit. The white dress and hat were made for you.
Now, what was that large bulky machine? I have no idea.

I love Lavender too, have 2 pots in my garden. A farm is even better, oh that wonderful smell. Is your funny machine a ‘Schleuder’ sorry that is the German name I don’t know the English one. There is still one in my mum’s house in the ‘Waschkueche’. Still working too , probably about 50 years old. 🙂

Another thing we both love–lavender! 💜 This machine is an old wringer washer. After washing the clothes, you had to put them through the wringer to squeeze out the water. I never used one but I remember my mom washing clothes with it before she bought a modern washing machine.

  3. Me too! I love lavender! And going to Provence to see lavender fields is a dream of mine. You look even younger in all-white, Carmen! Lovely as always! 🙂

Again dressed in white, again next to the lavender, again with your hat, again with hearts on your neck, again those wonderful gray eyes in the foreground, again the beauty and sensitivity overflowing your blog in a post wonderful! It’s a post so yours, so Carmen! Your romance with the white, the lavender that perfumes all of you, the beauty of your face, the wonderful and elegant body in the posture when you pose … Today I can only say: this is Carmen, this is the Queen of Capri, the queen of fashion blogs, …

  5. Lavender is such a lovely fragrance Carmen , be it candles or lotions , it is a healthy addiction! This lavender garden looks beautiful. I do not know what the machine is you are pictured with!! You lady look the epitome of femininity in that outfit!!! I love it. the eyelet skirt is always nice on you and pairs great with the white button up blouse . The hat is so cute with the flowing ribbon in lavender trailing in the back. The photo of you standing by the lavender looking off in the distance could be a scene on a priceless painting! Wonderful post , I need to look for some lavender products now!! Have a lovely day, Terri xo.

Breathtaking photos, gorgeous outfit. Lavender is one plant we can’t grow here in Wisconsin so I really appreciate it.

Thank you very much for your comment! Lavender needs full sun and well-drained soil. Too much rain is not good. I’d like to grow some in our garden but we have too much shade.

Lovely lavender! Isn’t it weird that I love all purple shades, but dislike the scent of lavender??
