Does it spark JOY?

My daughter Jean and I watched Marie Kondo’s series “Tidying Up” in January. Her method of organizing clothes is to pile ALL clothes on the bed. YES! Everything! My ceiling is not high enough so I decided to go through the closet from one end to the other.

Marie suggests parting with anything that does not spark joy. Everything sparked joy, so that saved me the trouble of having to hang everything back up again. My clothes are my friends and for me, they have happy memories woven through the fibers. Sounds crazy? Only someone who feels the same can relate.

Some of my outfits that spark JOY!

Have you tried the Marie Kondo method?

Yes, this is how I feel about clothes! Everything sparks joy, so much, so I never really minimize my wardrobe 🙂

I believe that all your clothes in your wardrobes spark joy, you have such wonderful clothes Carmen. I only keep the ones I like as well. Why would you keep clothes you don’t like….. I have sorted my socks and underpants her way, which is handy. I do it with other objects around the house. If it doesn’t spark joy it goes to the charity shop.
There are really lovely pictures of you. ♥

Thank you so much Ute! We do need to go through our house and garage to organize and minimalize. As collectors (my husband is guilty too) we tend to buy duplicates and have more than we need (mostly bought at thrift shops) so we will sell some and also donate to charity.

  4. Hi, Carmen – This is so refreshing to be given the message that it’s okay to keep rather than purge when one has so many wonderful things in their wardrobe! Fun! – Thanks, Angie at http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

Thanks so much for your comment Angie! I have a hard time parting with things that are connected to happy memories. Plus, I don’t buy things unless I really like them. 🙂

What a wonderful collection of looks! How much history, how much style, how much elegance, how much beauty … So many years following you, so many years admiring you, so many years of harmony and affection. I see some memorable looks! Your first photo, when I met you. The photos in Toronto, your dances, your travels, your style when doing a model, walk next to your river, white, that color that united us in a post with four hands … It’s the story of your blog, but also It is the story of my great admiration for you!
