Something old, something thrifted, something vegan, something gifted!

Something old …

This little scarf is almost as old as I am. It belonged to my mom; little scarves were her trademark.

something thrifted …

My unique shirt is recently thrifted, (Parsley and Sage) 100% cotton. I love the tie-dyed effect and the dazzling trim on the front and back.

something vegan …

This red crossbody purse is top quality, soft nonleather, bought during our winter vacation in Seattle (on Whidbey Island). It has a compartment for everything and goes great with these booties.

something gifted …

My daughter Jean gave me these cute little red booties, I’ve worn them more than she did. She doesn’t wear leather anymore (here’s why). I don’t buy leather anymore but I still wear the ones I have.

Do you shop at thrift stores and wear pre-loved clothes?

  1. There is something about modeling near a pile of railroad ties…that’s sexy! 😀

  3. I shop at thrift stores. Finding things you love can be a bit of work, but sometimes the thrill is in the hunt!

So true Nanette! It can be daunting and even frustrating when you find something you like but it doesn’t fit and there are no other sizes of that particular item, because everything is one-of-a-kind. But with patience it really is fun to find treasures! Like you say, the thrill is in the hunt! 🙂

Back from my vacation I find this nice post, so interesting. With this wonderful jacket and a first photo in which you look so pretty! And the game of red in the look, that red that you like so much. You look lovely in the photos.

  6. You have to love your Mom for wearing scarves Carmen , this little one is definitely an accessory rather than function , she knew fashion! It looks great with this unique tye dye shirt! The purse does have great compartments in it , I love that! What a nice gift the booties were from Jean 🙂 I like the background where the photos were taken, I hope there weren’t any trains coming lol!!! Happy Wednesday my Friend, Terri xo.

How nice to wake up to your lovely comment this morning! My mom’s little scarves were so cute, a vintage style from the ’50s and yet somehow timeless. This purse has three compartments at the front, one on the back and several inside. We’ve used this place for a backdrop numerous times, so far no train has passed but my husband keeps a lookout. 🙂

I love the entire outfit. You are so good at putting outfits together. I don’t shop at thrift stores for clothes because I’m not very patient. At all. I do shop at thrift stores for tea cups and such but those are easier to find and look at. I don’t do well at TJ Maxx either, too overwhelming. I need someone like you to be my personal shopper. Ha!

Thank you so much Jane! I enjoy putting outfits together. It does take patience going through thrift shops and my husband has more patience than I do, he’s the thrifty expert and found this shirt for me. I prefer looking for dishes and household items. How flattering that you’d like someone like me to be your personal shopper! 🙂

Items that belonged to my mom are very sentimental to me. Thanks so much for inviting me to join the thrift challenge on Instagram. My Instagram is quite neglected because of time. I don’t know how all you gals do it!

Nice combination, I do like the details on the shirt. Looks lovely! I get some of my sister’s clothes, not all fit though. You are lucky you fit in your daughter’s shoes. ♥ Ute

Thank you Ute! We used to wear each other’s clothes sometimes when Jean lived at home and I got to keep some of them. 🙂 Every time I visit her, she always gives me things she doesn’t wear anymore.
