Tartan Doc Martens and a Tartan Tie

I bought these Doc Martens in Scotland in 1994: a classic boot, Black Watch tartan, grunge style from the ’90s. I usually wear them with pants, this is the first time I’ve ever worn them with a skirt.

This denim maxi skirt was a hand-me-down from my daughter in the ’90s.

Blouse: gift from a dear friend
Tie: borrowed from husband
Denim skirt: belonged to my daughter
Boots: Dr. Martens from Scotland

Inspired by Patti from VISIBLE MONDAY, I decided to wear a tartan tie.

I borrowed the tie from my husband who doesn’t wear ties anyway. He has such a unique collection; this way they’ll get some use: a tartan tie from Scotland, a floral tie from the ’60s, a paisley tie and I bought him one with little VWs–really cute–which would be perfect for me because I drive a blue Beetle.

Did you notice the barn cat in the first photo? Here’s a closer look.

Have a wonderful week!

I just love how you wore a tie with this look. I think I’ll have to borrow some of my husbands now.

You had a brilliant idea to wear this outfit, meine liebe Freundin Carmen! You look so radiant in this photo! That’s because you have an excellent healthy life style I admire very much. By the way – when you’ll have a walk in downtown Stratford, pay a visit to the “Scottish” store with beautiful Scottish clothing items. I love that store!
It was a real pleasure to see you and dance with you yesterday…again, after a long break from doing that. We should meet soon for a good chat over a croissant or a tea, shouldn’t we? 🙂

Thank you so much meine liebe Freundin Ileana! What a lovely surprise to see you yesterday and enjoy some time together at the Matter of Taste Coffee Bar! Let’s do it again soon! We could meet at Rawlicious. I have been to the Scottish shop in Stratford. Niagara-on-the-Lake also has a Scottish shop and I will be posting our recent trip next. I always appreciate your comments, thank you for reading my blog!

This outfit makes you look like a student really, I think it is the tie…. Nice tie collection. I took the blue bow tie of my grandad, and still got it, but have trouble binding it. The bought ones with an elastic are easier…. I love bow ties, they make a man look very elegant, I loved it when my dad wore it to a ball. He looked smashing!

Thanks so much Ute! I did feel like a student wearing this ensemble, so I carried the red binder for fun. My green knee socks are from Germany. Men look so dashing in ties, I love bow ties. The old classic movies where men wore suits and ties is so romantic and reminds me of chivalry. Call me old-fashioned, but I love having the door held opened for me to walk through and I appreciate being dropped off at the door when we go somewhere, especially in the rain or cold weather. 🙂

Thank you so much Ngumabi! It is not a typical look for me since I never wear these boots with a skirt and I’ve never worn a tie before. However, because it’s a maxi skirt, I think it works. I’m more a feminine fashion lady. I will wear a tie again but always with a skirt to keep it feminine. That’s just me. 🙂

Wow, you remind me of a schoolgirl in the English or Scottish countryside. I’m not used to seeing you with a tie, and it looks so elegant. The skirt is beautiful and the boots are wonderful, the pattern is beautiful. I have a tie practically the same as yours, someday I will use it thinking of you. The outfit is very beautiful and you look really beautiful in the photos, but this is nothing new …

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! This is the first time in my life wearing a tie, but I had fun with this outfit. Imagine that, we could wear the same ties! Haha! The skirt from Jean has only been worn a few times but I do like it very much.
