What I wore to the Apple Butter Festival

It was a splendid autumn day for the annual Wellesley Apple Butter Festival. I wore a black asymmetrical hand-knit wrap top which I bought several years ago at a Christmas market. This asymmetrical plaid skirt is over ten years old and my black booties are thrifted ($10.)

Wellesley is an old little town about a half hour drive from where we live. The local arena is converted to a huge craft show and vendors are along the village streets. One of my dear friends that I hadn’t seen in ages was there.

I bought a cute owl eternity scarf and lovely red, black and beige plaid gloves with a little bow and black lace trim.

This festival always draws a crowd but this year seemed larger than usual. We always buy apple fritters but the line was too long, it would take an hour to get some so we decided not to wait. Instead, we meandered around the village and enjoyed talking to a local–an elderly gentleman who used to live in this old house. It’s 160 years old and he was happy to tell us some of the history.

We browsed through an antique shop–a former mill–with many unique items.

The town offers free wagon rides to the local Apple Cider Mill with a tour of the mill and you can watch apple cider being made. We took our grandchildren last time and it was educational as well as tasty!

There’s antique cars on display and remote controlled boats on a pond, live music and dancing (I’ve previously danced with a line dance performance group).

An enjoyable day trip, one of autumn’s pleasures.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you so much Terri! We had a wonderful thanksgiving family dinner (12 people) and also another dinner party for friends and I served hot apple cider for both occasions. I know you’d enjoy this festival with your family, it’s a fantastic family event.

You look fabulous, love that skirt. As it is black you could almost wear that for Halloween if you celebrate that. I do not do Halloween but the Apple festival sounds brilliant and fun. I would have loved that and eat anything with apples in it. (I do my tap in Wellesley Road) ♥

Thanks so much Ute! It’s a lovely dress for dancing. I don’t really like Halloween with ghastly and gory costumes, but I do like costume parties. I go to a dance where everyone dresses up and most wear really nice costumes. This year I’ll be a butterfly. As a child I was Little Red Ridinghood, a Hawaiian hula girl, a Roaring ’20s flapper, always something nice. Sometimes we have avoided Halloween altogether because of the sinister atmosphere.

I love apples and anything made with them like apple cider, apple sauce, apple crisp, apple fritters and apple cake that my mom used to bake (German style).

Thanks so much Kathy! Most women wore jeans or workout pants, so I guess I did stand out. But I have so many pretty skirts and I want to wear them. Fashion is fun!

The skirt is a marvel! Beautiful fabric, beautiful print and a very original design, the asymmetry is great! The asymmetry in the blouse is also very original and the fabric falls in love. A beautiful combination, with a country air very suitable for the occasion. The booties and the bag complete the outfit in a perfect way. I love your hairstyle and all the jewelry you’re wearing. A great proposal, a beautiful outfit, a woman who never leaves indifferent for her style and beauty.

I always look forward to reading your comments, my fashion expert! I so appreciate your attention to detail and encouraging words! The purse is from Jean’s eco boutique, you have seen many times on my blog and I’m glad you like the purse and booties with this outfit. This purse is such a good quality, looks like leather but it is not leather. 🙂 People think it’s leather even when they feel it.

I would have waited if it was the only place to get apple fritters, but we have a market that we go to and never have to wait more than 10 minutes. 🙂 These booties are made for walking, very comfortable. Thanks so much for stopping by!
