Autumn Bliss

Autumn is whispering through the trees, gently but persistently, reminding me that summer is only a memory now.

Usually, I write an Autumn Lament at this time of year, but I’m going to reverse it this time. You see, I don’t actually have anything against autumn per se. In fact, I really do love autumn: Thanksgiving, harvest, colourful leaves and fresh, crisp air, walks in the woods and pumpkin patches, picking apples on an orchard, hay rides and sunflower fields, and the aroma of apple crisp baking in the oven. Time to make hearty soups, delicious vegetable stews.

So why am I always feeling a little melancholy? It’s not just because I can’t wear my summer clothes anymore; it’s not just because the days are getting shorter. But it means winter will be next and that is the season I dread more than the dentist. Winter always overstays its welcome.

But for now, I’ll enjoy the good things I mentioned about autumn and wear my new autumn clothes. My first sweater for the season: a beige, high-low, knit pullover with large grommets and laces at both sides. Worn with my white cargo pants keeps things light and cheerful. My necklace was a gift from my husband for our anniversary.

House for Sale

I’m sitting on a roof patio of a gorgeous new house. Take a peek inside this futuristic home, a blend of ultra-modern and old-fashioned charm!

What do you like about autumn?

Happy October!

  6. Hi Carmen, Autumn has so much to offer. I know you are missing your summer clothes and I will miss seeing you model them! You are right about winter overstaying its welcome , especially where we both live! This sweater is very cute on you, I love the grommet and lace detail. This house is very nice. I do like the modern look . I love to go to orchard in autumn and get my apple cider! Lovely post , hugs, Terri xo.

It truly is a lovely season, especially if you have a fireplace (which we don’t) but I would like one in our next house if possible, to curl up on the sofa with a cozy blanket and enjoy hot apple cider after the day is done. This weekend we are celebrating Thanksgiving in Canada. We may not have a fireplace but I’m thankful we have a furnace. 🙂

  7. You look younger and better all the time, that is great. I actually think I look better now, too, compared to when I was just 50. Beautiful everything!

I love autumn and I like you, what a lovely combination! I love your look, so delicate and soft. The sweater is beautiful and the cargo pants look great on your legs. But, is there something that is not good in you? Today I want to talk about your hair, I see it longer, more voluminous, with a hairstyle something different from your usual mean hair. The most pronounced fringe and those loops at the end of the hair are beautiful and you look gorgeous. The house is beautiful, are you going to move?

Thank you so much! The sweater feels super soft on my skin, I love the large grommets with laces. My hair was professionally styled at the beauty parlour. I wish I could style it like this myself, alas! I have tried but it is never the same as the hairdresser does it. Rosa is Mexican, she is an excellent hairstylist. I only go a few times a year. I don’t understand what you mean by saying my hair is usually “mean” – perhaps the translation is the problem. 🙂 I would love to live in this house, but we cannot afford it. We may move if we find the right place.

      Feliç Octubre!
