Classic Cars: a museum on wheels

I enjoy going to car shows and automobile museums. There’s something about old classic cars that evokes happy memories of days of yore and takes me back in time.

Summertime means classic cars will be seen on the roads as they gather together for car shows in many cities and towns in Southern Ontario all through the summer. Our city has an annual event every July with a parade of cars slowly cruising down the main street and then parking along the curbs, so everyone can enjoy looking at them and chatting with their owners. I love how well-kept they are and many have been beautifully restored.

Cruising on King starts with Show and Shine in Victoria Park where the cars can be viewed all afternoon. There’s entertainment after the parade, a fantastic family event!

The owner invited me to sit in the driver’s seat!

This year I wore my dress with red roses and polkadots with a retro vibe made me fit in with the times!

From Seattle to Toronto to Germany, it’s so fun to attend car shows and browse through car museums. You don’t have to own a vehicle to appreciate it. Below is a selection of photos taken during the past few years.

Last but not least, my little blue Beetle, a classic from 2000, that I plan to keep, and who knows, perhaps my Beetle will be in the parade someday with my grandson behind the wheel!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you so much Jess! It’s always fun going to car shows and I love dressing the part for it! I’ve never had a ride in a Jaguar but I did have a ride in a Porsche, it was more fun than a midway ride!

Glad you liked it Patti! How wonderful to have memories of your ’68 Beetle! As a little girl playing with my brother’s toy cars, my favourite was the classic Beetle, always hoped to have one. The nice thing about my “new” Beetle is that it’s roomier, it has heating and it goes from zero to 60. 😉 I’d like to buy some daisy hubcaps for “her” and call her Daisy. 🌼

You’ve always liked old cars, right? There are already several post in which you talk about them, that’s why the photographs are familiar to me, those of the cars and those of your beautiful looks! I love the dress with polka dots and red roses, it is really beautiful. Your look is beautiful and I think it was the most beautiful part of the party, because I’m not a big car enthusiast. Although my favorite photo will always be the last, with your look all white next to your little blue beetle …

You’re quite right! Even as a child, I loved playing with my brother’s toy cars. My favourite was his little VW Bug and bus. Johnny had a marvellous train set with hundreds of little cars. I have a collection of these toy cars in various sizes.

The photos in my red roses and polkadots dress was taken on Friday. I got several compliments and I do believe this dress was the reason I was chosen to sit in the Jaguar. I bought the dress last year for our holiday in NYC. I have worn it to dances and it twirls so beautifully.

Your memory is good, some photos have been in previous posts and some I have added for the first time.

As always, I appreciate your comments! 🙂

The little red one is a windup car
The little gray one is an old vintage DINKY TOY

What a fun time especially that you got to sit in the car, Carmen!! We were at a friends place about a month ago, where he had restored a Model A car—I even put it on Instagram. But I’ve never been to a car show!!

With thousands of onlookers, I felt honoured to be asked to sit in his beautiful Jaguar. I asked him if I should take off my shoes – haha! There were some very old cars from the 1920s and ’30s too, including a Model A with a rumble seat. This car show was a museum on wheels! 🙂

Awww, very kind of you to say dear Ralph! I have been to a couple of air shows. My dad was a hobby pilot and we had a 4-seater plane when I was a child. When I find a photo, I’ll post it.

Have fun at the museum, I’ll be interested to see your photos.
