Our city hosted its first VegFest on the weekend. I wore my body bag. Did you know that’s what they call fanny packs in Germany? They use the English words body bag! Apparently, fanny packs are back in style. I bought this one with a colourful, delicious, fruity pattern at a craft sale at Christmastime. This is my first time wearing it and its perfect for the occasion!

Their mission: “Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.”
Frog Hollow Farm Sanctuary sells beautiful crossbody bags to raise money for feed for the animals. There are several delightful animal prints to choose from.
My pearl gray tank top has lace detail and a ruffled hem with a racer back. I bought it 7 years ago at Hollisters.
These crinkled white palazzo pants are cropped with slits and pockets on the sides. I never need to iron them. I bought them 10 years ago at Spanner.
Cherry earrings with a matching pendant, colourful bracelets and red vegan sandals complete the outfit.

That’s hysterical that they call it a body bag! I started using one again since they’re “in” now and they’re useful (mine is a vintage Le Sportsac floral one with black trim). I like your new fruit one!

They use a lot of English words in Germany, but they don’t always have the same meaning as we use them for. Another example is “handy” – that’s what they call mobile phones. 🙂

I prefer the “body bag” terminology.

I know! When I heard that in Germany they say body bag, I was surprised. They use a lot of English words in German but many people won’t know what body bags really are. Although, it is a good name for these little bags, right?
So, I’m not the only one who doesn’t like ironing. 😉

We call them Bum Bags, and they are so useful, I got one too. I do love your fruity one though, much nicer than the plain dark blue one, I have. If in fashion or not I do like them. Your outfit looks so summery and light, love it, specially the trousers, mainly because you don’t have to iron them. I do not like ironing…..

They are also called bum bags here too. I prefer the German term body bag. Although body bag has an entirely different meaning in English. I don’t like ironing either, so these are great palazzo pants. The fabric is lighter than a feather, cooler than shorts and keeps the sun off.

I’m sure we’ll be seeing more fashionable fanny packs. I have one from the 1990s that looks like a watermelon slice. I’m glad I kept it and plan to wear it again. It’s perfect for a cell phone and money. 🙂

How interesting this festival, and how beautiful your look for the visit. The little bag is cute and all the accessories are very nice. The linen pants are beautiful and the shirt is perfect on your beautiful figure. Beautiful photo of your son and your granddaughter, she seems to be happy with her uncle. The look, without the bag, is very delicate and elegant. The color of the top is so close to your eyes, it is a wonderful combination. You look really beautiful in the photos.

Thanks so much Maria! VegFest was fun, but we’re having a heatwave and I didn’t bring a hat because I thought it was going to be an indoor event. I have another fanny pack from the last century, it looks like a watermelon slice, really cute! They are very practical.
I plan to make the lemon drizzle cake as soon as the weather cools a little because we don’t have air-conditioning and the oven will heat up the house.

It sounds wonderful, although I hope you didn’t get sunburnt! Enjoy the lemon drizzle cake, it is a personal favourite of mine and my little sisters for whom I usually bake it – very refreshing especially in this heat! ❤️

Lemon drizzle cake
Ingredients:
• 200g self-raising flour
• 125g caster sugar
• Pinch of salt
• Half a teaspoon of baking powder
• 200ml oat/almond milk
• 100ml rapeseed/vegetable oil
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 2 tbs golden syrup
• Juice and zest of 1 lemon
• 100g icing sugar
Method:
• Preheat over to 180C.
• Line and grease a 1kg loaf tin
• Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar into a mixing bowl. Mix in milk, oil, lemon juice and zest, and golden syrup. Mix using an electric whisk.
• Pour into tin and bake for 35 mins or until skewer comes out clean.
• While cake is baking, heat the lemon juice from 1 lemon and dissolve icing sugar into it.
• Prick the baked cake all over while it is still warm and pour the icing sugar all over it.
