My Canada Colours: red and white

I wore my red and white gingham dress to our Ballroom dance class party.

What to wear to a Canadian Barn Dance

Marilyn’s barn is the perfect setting for the festivities. Her county-style decor matches her country-style hospitality. Everyone enjoyed the dance and refreshments. Thank you so much for hosting Marilyn!

I wear red and white during this time, but I really miss BLUE. In my childhood, our Canadian flag was red, white and blue. If I had any say, I would have had the red maple leaf in the middle with blue on the sides. I’ve been wearing red and white to my dance classes and dance parties.

God keep our land glorious and free!

Thanks so much Patti! We’re enjoying the holiday weekend! If I could be a snowbird, I’d have the best of both worlds! 😊

Such a lovely dress Carmen, red and white are brilliant colours together. Barndance sounds brilliant. I was out yesterday evening to a choir and afterwards a barn dance , it was absolutely wonderful. So much fun. Specially in that dress, I can imagine you dancing!

  5. I love your Canada Day red and white–especially the gingham dress! I’m not sure what I’m wearing for Canada Day. If our flag colours were black and grey, I’d have it covered! 🙂

I said it in some other post, I remember, when you dressed only with a towel with the Canadian flag, you are, for me, the best image of Canada, the muse and the best brand of your country. And today it proves it again with your looks in red and white. Red and white are the colors of Carmen, they are your look. With all those outfits you look wonderful.

  7. Hi Carmen, I LOVE the photos of you in your red gingham dress!! In the first one it shows the dress in all its glory , I like the design and the length , also how you have accessorised it with the earrings, necklace , bracelet and sandals show how much thought went into it. It is a very feminine pose along with the second one of you kneeling with the flowers in one hand and stroking the cat with the other! So lovely! All the other red and white outfits are so cute on you also. You truly love and are proud of your country! Big hugs , Terri xo.

Thanks so much Terri! I have 5 dresses in this vintage style. I always have fun with accessories. The little cat wanted to get into the photo shoot – lol.

My parents chose Canada when we immigrated to Canada in the 1950s. Truth be known, I would have chosen the USA. We tried to emigrate to the States a couple of times in the ’70s and ’80s but were turned down. We would never think of moving there illegally even though my dream has always been to live in America. My daughter is a US citizen, she moved to Seattle in 2000.

This is not to say that I don’t appreciate living in Canada, I must be content and grateful for God’s blessings! After all, this is His world and He’s got the whole world in His hands.

Perhaps someday we can be snowbirds like some of my friends.

Happy 4th of July, my dear American friend! 🇺🇸

You were too young Jodie! 🙂 It was changed in 1965 when I was 13 years old. It was called the Canadian Red Ensign with a British Union Jack in the upper left corner.

Glad you like my gingham dress, it has a vintage vibe and makes me feel very feminine.
