Dressing Up Jeans

Everyone wears jeans and they are easy to dress up. Velvet makes any outfit look regal. My black velvet blazer and white lace peplum top adds a feminine contrast to rugged denim fabric. (My blazer is another great find in a thrift shop, most of my jackets are thrifted.)

Perfect day for a walk in the woods. In this outfit, I can enjoy nature and be ready to go to a sidewalk café.

This black “lace” necklace is actually metal.

Today two of my fashionable dance friends are showing how they dressed up their jeans.

Maggie’s top is thrifted and has a unique print which adds a splash of colours and her sandals are colourful too. I liked them so much that I bought a pair as well. Imitation is the highest form of flattery and I imitate Maggie a lot. Can I help it if she has such great style? We met 10 years ago and she hasn’t aged at all.

Luanne is wearing a top with a bit of bling; anything that glitters adds a little glamour and is great for dressing up jeans. She bought it at a consignment shop. Luanne just joined the 50+ ladies, though you’d never know it. 50 didn’t look like this when I was young.

Velvet, lace, colours and sparkles are ways to make denim look chic.

How do you dress up your jeans?

  1. Oh YES !!! Jeans are a must and go with everything. They have become one of the most important items of our clothing and I love them to bits :)))) With sports wear or something elegant – everything goes. Your idea to combine them with velvet and lace is soooo beautiful. GREAT !!!! Kisses – Margot :))))

  2. Hi, Carmen and thanks for linking up-I left a comment with something I think you will be interested in for over on my blog . Most of my jackets are thrifted too and I have found way to many! I just brought two more home from Savers last week.
How wonderful that you got to include your friends today. That makes for so much fun. I am glad we found eachother’s blogs.

Thanks so much Terri, you know I’m all about slow fashion: eco-friendly, fair trade, thrifting, hand-made and cruelty-free fashion. Like the sign on my daughter’s eco-boutique: I wrote the sign, a quote from Vivienne Westwood (which you also have on your sidebar). 🙂

Thank you so much Terri! I love the contrast too! It feels so good getting out on these lovely spring days again! However, we had a wild wind blow through our area and many huge trees fell. I know there was a lot of damage done and it makes me think of people who lose there homes in hurricanes and tornados, so sad.

A beautiful look, in which the mixture of styles is its value to stand out. The lace top peplum is super feminine and with the velvet jacket, the proposal is magnificent. You combine it with your jeans, to make it more casual, and even if you get it, the look does not lose any of its beauty and style. It is wonderful to be able to listen to your voice and your comments, although the rushing of the river water does not allow you to hear clearly. Lovely photos, and as always, the most beautiful model …

Thank you so much for the lovely compliment Josep-Maria! The rushing water was very loud, but it is like music to my ears, because you know how much I love a river! I’m always happy to read your review of my outfits.

We had a terrible wind storm on Thursday and many huge trees in our neighbourhood fell down. I was afraid our trees behind the house might fall and hit our house but only a lattice was blown down.
