Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

When I look into the mirror, I see the same things as you do: imperfections, flaws and things we’d like to change. We are our worst critics and we can be very unkind to ourselves. Be nice to that person you see in the mirror; remember you are a creation of God; unique, irreplaceable and of infinite value. You are special–just like everyone else in the world!

We should not compare ourselves with others for there will always be those who are prettier and those who are not as pretty. Rather, we should be our very own best. Look after ourselves, take care of ourselves and forgive ourselves, too. Have you ever found yourself disparaging yourself and telling yourself some nasty things? I know I have and then I think to myself, “I am a child of God created in His image and He loves me.”

 

More important than outward beauty is a loving heart. More important than gorgeous hairdos and exquisite jewellery are kindness and compassion. Love shining through our eyes, joy flashing in our smile and tender words coming from our lips makes us desirable and attractive. A bitter, scornful face is uncomely. Angry, venomous words are like darts in the heart.

A smiling face looks so much lovelier than a frown. A smile takes little energy and is so easy to give someone. Kind words are like soft music and soothes the soul.

What you think about yourself is more important than what others think of you. Don’t let the opinions of what others think of you affect you – unless their opinions are good!!

Never compare yourself to anyone else.             You are one-of-a-kind!
