Schafer Baillie Mansion on Capitol Hill

The Schafer Baillie Mansion is an exquisite Bed and Breakfast on Capitol Hill in Seattle–walking distance from Drizzle and Shine, my daughter’s eco boutique.

I wore my new gray Synergy top (fair-trade, made in Nepal) that I bought at Jean’s store. I love the hand-stitching and dolman 3/4 length sleeves.

s-b-mansions-b-mansion-2 Although the house has been renovated, it has kept its century-0ld charm. My favourite space is the sunroom where daylight pours in and bathes the room, an uplifting contrast to the dark, yet elegant, dining and living rooms.

We met Brenda, the friendly innkeeper with southern hospitality. She took us on a tour of the rooms and we spent some time in the library reading about the history of this luxurious mansion. Here’s the Photo Gallery Tour on their website.

I can imagine magnificent parties being hosted here in days gone by, a feeling of nostalgia overwhelms me.

That looks like a beautiful place. I may wander over to see it when I’m in the neighborhood again. Which I seem to get to often!
Fun to hear your voice again too.
I recently bought a Synergy top with the moon phases on it. I really love everything I’ve gotten from Drizzle & Shine.

Hi Joni! So glad you are happy with all your purchases; I love everything I got too. It feels good to support local businesses and know we are helping by buying eco-friendly, fair-trade and cruelty-free. We don’t have a store like Drizzle and Shine here. 😦

I’m looking forward to my next visit to Seattle!

The look is beautiful, but the best of the post is the video recorded by mistake, it’s fantastic! The blouse is cute, the white pants are … your pants, and I love the shoes, they are very nice, if a bit cold for Ontario! LOL. A great outfit, in which you look really beautiful!

Thank you so much Josep-Maria! I included the video because I hoped it would add some reality and humour to the photo shoot. Jean sent me a matching skirt to this top and now I wear it as a dress. It is very cold here and my car is buried in snow!

I decided to post the blooper just for laughs and a little bit of reality of what actually happens in my photo shoots. 😀

The mansion is indeed amazing and the history is fascinating. The Shafers were possibly from Germany originally (at least German descendants– Schäfer) I’m guessing. I am trying to find out. Alexander Baillie was from Scotland.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Oh HOW LOVELY you look. These red shoes created a fantasic contrast to the whole outfit. You are right, this top is exquisit – I love the hand stitch and the colour. The place must be fantastic, the decor is so stylish, and with the sun lighting the rooms I can almost feel the atmosphere of this place. Have a great Sunday – Margot ❤

Thank you very much Margot! I would buy all my shoes in red if I could. I love the hand stitching too. I once sewed little stitches like this on a skirt at the waistband and seams, it’s a lot of work. I know you are amazing with your creations!

      Cheers!

Red is a neutral as far as I’m concerned, goes with everything. 🙂 I even had a dress with orange and red. I love red shoes! You’ll love Seattle! If you book accommodations at the mansion, you won’t be disappointed.

lol. SNAP !!! Now that’s weird dear Carmen. On going to my birthday party on the 15th, a friend tried to take a photograph with my camera and had pressed video instead. I have uploaded the resulting mess to YouTube which will be seen on my party post next week. We must have the same camera bug, or maybe it is just pilot error 🙂 ❤ x
