One of the joys of blogging (as any blogger knows) is meeting a fellow blogger. It’s an exciting experience to finally come face to face with someone you’ve gotten to know through blogging.
There’s a happy nervousness and anticipation as you wait in the place where you have decided to rendezvous. At least that’s how I felt when Joni and I arranged to meet at Drizzle and Shine, my daughter’s eco boutique in Seattle.
The setting: Jean’s delightful shop, a perfect place for fashion bloggers to meet. I’m already there and checking my hair in the back room, you’d think I was going on my first date!
Entrance: A tall, gorgeous woman walks in and instantly I have a smile from ear to ear and feel the thrill of meeting a movie star. Joni is elegant and gracious. Of course, we need a photo to verify this special occasion. Her A-line olive tunic is made by Elegantees and I’m wearing my favourite dress/tunic made in USA.
Elegantees is a wonderful company with a mission. Designed in New York City and sewn in Nepal where women are paid a fair and living wage. Take a look what they are are doing to help survivors of sex trafficking in Nepal.
“Our Mission Statement: To provide hope to survivors of sex trafficking in Nepal. A positive source of income that reinforces independence, a healthy self-image, and confidence restores lives one elegant tee at a time.”
Joni is rocking this beautiful black coat by Indigenous (organic, fair-trade), she looks like a model and everything looks fabulous on her. How I wish we took more photos!
We decided to go for tea and dessert — just a couple of blocks from Jean’s store — and relaxed in the sunshine on this unique sidewalk bench in front of Sugar Plum, a vegan bakery. We enjoyed a delicious “cheese” cake.
Hope you like your new socks Joni!
