Old-fashioned Picnics and the Simple Life

A Sunday afternoon picnic.
It’s such a simple pleasure in life.

Picnic

I packed up a tasty little lunch in my watermelon picnic basket.

picnic

Avocado and cucumber sandwiches.
Hummus and radishes sandwiches.
Strawberries and grapes for dessert.
Lemon water

Lovely place for a photoshoot at the old mill ruins by the Grand River.

Picnic 3A sun bonnet serves two purposes: protection from the sun and a feeling of a nostalgia like I’ve seen in romantic movies from days gone by.

sun bonnet This white skirt with layers of lace has delicate daisies; it was a sample skirt that I bought in Manhattan two years ago.

Version 2

A walk along the river.

Just what the doctor ordered–a simple life.

Have you been on a picnic lately?

Oh, I have the perfect little purse to go with that outfit!! Ugh. Maybe it’s leather. I’ll check. Wouldn’t it be nice if we were near enough to swap and share? I love your picnic! I have a major thing for radishes 🙂

I have not been on a picnic for a long time. However, I have made (and eaten, haha) avocado and cucumber sandwiches. I have made hummus sandwiches….must make some with radishes.

The old mill ruins are enchanting and are a popular venue for wedding photo shoots.

Great post Carmen. Now days a picnic for most people is load up the cooler, your music device and likely a bunch of electronic to keep the kids busy. An old fashion picnic was more about enjoying someone else’s company, enjoy your surroundings and enjoying the meal you’ve packed in your picnic basket. Great pictures of your old fashion simple life picnic. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

A beautiful post dear Carmen. I have not been on a picnic for years, anyway some people think that I am a sandwich short of a picnic 😉 ❤

You look gorgeous, I so love that delicate skirt and hat. But the best I think as all others find is the melon Picnic Basket, So cute, and the food looks simple but so yummy. It does not have to be complicated as you show, enjoy the easy, simple but beautiful times. Beautiful backdrop too! I so wished I could be there with you!

As I like to share a picnic with you! With all these wonderful details: the tablecloth, cups, dishes, fruit, basket, landscape and, especially, your beauty, your elegance … It is impossible to dress more wonderful way for a romantic picnic in the countryside! Everything is perfect, everything, lace skirt with “your” daisies, the top of a wonderful color that highlights all the delicacy of your skin, trim waist and neck, the beautiful pamela (thou dress like nobody ), and, as always, over any outfit or look: you, your figure, your smile, your personality … I really love nature, you already know, but you turn it into something wonderful.

  12. MMm. Your picnic sound delicious and refreshing! No, but I am tempted to. We sometimes go to a park nearby with the pups as we can look at the lake while enjoying a picnic lunch. Love your delicate skirt with the buttery yellow colored top. You look so pretty, Carmen, and that watermellon basket is perfect!
