Black and White Plaid

Everything I wear pretty well has a memory and a story woven through its fibres. Case in point–this black and white plaid scarf with matching gloves. I’m a sort of matchy-matchy person, even though my daughter Jean has taught me not to match all the time. I learn a lot from her (including my vegan lifestyle).

This is a continuation of my last post featuring my Royal Stewart scarf with matching gloves; both the tartan and plaid sets were gifts from my dear grandmother.

I have several houndstooth scarves I can wear with this hat, but I decided to do some pattern mixing: black and white houndstooth with a black and white leopard print so I’m not always matchy-matchy. 😀

The red boots were a gift from my dear friend Helga in Germany (1982).

Hat: little shop in Kitchener
Scarf and gloves: gifted from my grandmother
Vest: Spanner
corduroy leggings: Fred Meyer
Boots: gifted (made in Germany)

I can’t choose the weather, but I can choose what I wear!

LOVE the black and white plaid look on you. Those gloves are amazing 🙂 The plaid ties in with the red so well, I love it.

I see you are adding photos in your comments, glad that’s working for you. 🙂

Another beautiful demonstration of the great combination which represents black with red. I like especially the red boots, are lovely, two handkerchiefs, and two caps. The black beret has a Frenchified air, that you and I have always appreciated, right? I love the landscape, although any scenery is wonderful if you’re in it …

Thank you so much Josep-Maria! I’m glad you like the scarves and hats. The black Frenchified beret has been in my blog several times and it does make me feel like I’m in Paris!

Yesterday afternoon we had fun tobogganing down a hill with my grandchildren. So you will see more black and red, and lots more snow in my next post! Red has been my favourite colour this winter.

      Have a happy week!

Thank you Melinda! Wish I had photos of everything she gave me, because she did have great taste. She passed away in 1966 when I was 14; we didn’t take many photos (no digital in those days) and I don’t have the items anymore. But you have inspired me to do a post about her someday. I still have a couple of things that she gave me like this black cape. A very mod look in the 60s and I still wear it.

      Happy Monday!
