Clothing Exchange: Hearts and Flowers

clothing exchangeI went to my first clothing exchange while visiting my daughter Jean in Seattle. It was so much fun and a wonderful experience. I helped Jean shop and prepare refreshments for her guests. Jean is a gracious host and served delicious, nutritious vegan dishes that everyone enjoyed.

I am searching for the photos of the delectable food Jean prepared with a variety of fruit, veggies and vegan cheese that tastes better than dairy.

All the guests were so courteous and made this experience very enjoyable!

The petite flowers are coral, pink and turquoise, so I wore a coral cardigan, added a pink belt and a turquoise purse. Jean gave me this heart belt and straw hat many years ago–I added a black flower. I clip on different flowers depending on my outfit. I have a bold sunflower and a red rose.

This lace dress has a colourful, calico print and a high low style, that’s three things I love: LACE, FLORALS and HIGH LOW. I wore it for the first time on a lovely afternoon in July.

Morning tea with Maggie and if I ever host a clothing exchange, she will be the first one on my list; Maggie has exquisite taste and I love her style.

Have you ever been to a clothing exchange?

You are very welcome my dear Maggie! You always look so beautiful and you could start your own fashion blog! 🙂 Thanks for saving some clothes, I’d like to have a clothing exchange, perhaps in the fall.

  4. Looks like a fab time was had by all. Do you have to make sure everyone is the same size first?
I’ve never been to one, obviously.

Jean had about 25 guests in all sizes, so there’s something for everyone. The ladies also bring shoes, jewellery, hats, scarves, purses–so NO ONE went home empty-handed. Someone did not have anything to bring, but Jean told her to come anyway because there really is plenty to share! It’s like a pot-luck, only with clothes and accessories! LOL

      Happy Sunday!

Tremendous photos of a tremendous “model”……such delicacy…..the black flower sets off the hat…..the clothes set off you exquisitely……you would do well, I’m sure, if you ever decided to publish your photos and literary works.
I particularly like the belt with heart.

I have never heard of clothes exchange, I am about to take some to the charity shop that is how I exchange clothes for someone to enjoy them. The charity shop sends me letters how much they made from my donations. Love your garden house. And I see you have the lovey wild rose tea set. I had a ‘heart dress’ on yesterday and someone said it is a Valentines dress, black with many small hearts on it and I love that dress. It is a bit short so I wear it with black leggings. Today is my black dress with little bows on. A sit is so lovely and sunny , I ‘ll be out soon. Enjoy your day ! 🙂

    • We had carloads of leftover clothing, as most people brought more than they took. It all went to charity. That’s one more reason I enjoy clothing exchanges. Socializing, free clothes, and giving back!

You’d love it Ute! 🙂 It’s fun to exchange with friends and it gives me pleasure to see someone I know or have met who will enjoy my things. Then there is still lots more to give away, as Jean said, it took several carloads to take many huge bagfuls to Goodwill charity, so it’s a win-win for everyone! Plus, it was so great to see the kindness everyone had: no grabbing and fighting like I’ve seen at Bazaars, just the opposite, women saying to someone, “Hey, this would look good on you!” Also, it makes me think of the person who owned it when I wear it: memories woven through the fibres!

        Happy weekend Ute and Jean!!
