Palazzo Pants at a Grandioso Palace

Well, it’s not quite a palace but it sure looks like one and feels like one walking around this marvelous, HUGE estate.

Langdon Hall

Palazzo pants are grand for an elegant affair. A similar look to a long skirt. Palazzo means palace in Italian.

While on vacation in New York City last summer, Jean and I bought these lace teal palazzo pants at a flea market in Brooklyn.

These are handmade and I love to support local people. In the 60s I made several pairs of white lace palazzo pants and sold them at a boutique. Wish I’d have kept a pair.

I made mine with a lining sewn in like shorts. I haven’t been able to wear these ones because there was no lining and it looked a little very sleazy just wearing black undies. I bought a pair of black workout shorts and it’s perfect.

 Sexy, yes; sleazy NO!

My first time wearing them recently was to the historic Langdon Hall: a luxurious Hotel Resort and Spa in the country, a mansion with several other beautiful buildings on the estate and meticulously groomed gardens.

Langdon Hall

Langdon Hall is a lovely day trip in Southern Ontario or a fabulous weekend getaway. A very romantic place to have a wedding reception or any special event. But you don’t need a special occasion to enjoy this charming place, it’s delightful for dinner or afternoon tea for two.

  12. Gorgeous! The shorts underneath are key! Well, unless you’re on the beach and use the pants as a bathing suit cover-up. But revealing one’s undies is not a good look 😛 You’ve inspired me to style mine. I’ll blog about them soon!

I admire the poses where your palazzo pants do in fact look like a skirt. Between you and your photographer, the photographic results are stunning. Certainly, “sexy, YES …..sleazy, NEVER…..

I always liked the wild (pink) roses that grew at Wasaga Beach….occasionally, I picked (cut?) some for Mom….ALAS, they then quickly dropped their petals !!!

Thank you Suzanne! Stilettos help my legs look longer than they are.
Perhaps we could meet for afternoon tea someday. You and I go to many of the same places: Stratford, St. Jacobs, Elora and Goderich.

I do loved the tour, Carmen! The park is a beauty! As well as the inside rooms, of course…
Your lace pants are so nice! And you have had the perfect idea to wear a pair of black shorts underneath!
    (P.s. Today I have learned a new word:sleazy!! )

Thank you dear Dan! You would love it here, a charming place for an elegant lady!
I’m glad you learned a new English word which is quite the opposite of lady-like. No elegant lady wants to look sleazy. 😉

Very sexy, So unusual and very 60’s I find. Great on you! I do love lace! And what a lovely place you have been, great to get pampered there !

    • carmen says:

Thank you my dear Ute! I’m afraid my ‘pampering’ is limited to an afternoon cup of tea, it is very expensive. I have been there many times over the years; a dear friend invited me to her anniversary celebration for high tea (which was $30. per person for little fancy sandwiches–and that was years ago, so not sure how much that costs today).

My mom used to take me to exquisite places for afternoon tea/coffee and German cake. So I learned to have dinner at home and enjoy a little luxury without a huge expense. 🙂 I’ve taken my dance class there for afternoon coffee and cake. I’ve learned very good manners from my mom and so no one actually knows I don’t have the money to indulge in this type of extravagance. But hey, it’s a great place to wear my palazzos and pretend I’m a princess for the afternoon! 😉

I can imagine that it is expensive and exclusive. Even for High tea it is great to go there. Once in a while it is good to go out very stylish! You always look very chic and stylish and I am absolute sure that you have the manners to go to a palace. Days like that build wonderful memories!

Langdon Hall is very elegant. Friends of ours treated us to dinner……of course, we did not get to see the bill or even prices on the menu…..but we are aware of the expensiveness of high-end dining.

Friends of ours take there grandchildren to high tea….have done so more than once!

Wow, you look fabulous and you wear your palazzo pants definitely in the right setting, both are beautiful! The mansion and the park are adorable.
My daughter just bought a pair of dark green lace pants in a wide leg cut from Sandro Paris, so you see they are not only sixties or fleamarket style… She wore them to an event last night! Hers are with an extra layer in the same colour, about the same length as your shorts.

Thank you so much for your kind comments on my blog, Carmen!

Thank you so much dear Annette! Your daughter’s pants must be beautiful and I would love to see them. I would like to find the same colour shorts or perhaps I will need to look for fabric in the same colour as my pants, that way I can wear them with a white top or ivory etc. I feel with the black underneath, I’m limited to a black top.

We both have fashionable daughters! 🙂

  19. Love them Carmen! And they’re definitely not sleazy. 😉 Maybe you could sew some white ones?

    • carmen says:

Glad you like them Joni! I have given up sewing, blogging is more fun 🙂 I did so much sewing a long time ago, but it was always stressful. I’m a perfectionist and I end up undoing more than sewing and always fearful of mistakes (I had plenty). I’m not fun to live with when I sew.

I would love a pair in white lace, I’ll pay you to make them.
