High Low Dress for all Seasons

I got this chic high low dress at Hudson’s Bay in the fall. I’ve bought several high low dresses, skirts and tops ever since they made the fashion scene. The first time I laid eyes on one, I said – that’s for me!

This dress has a lace waist and if you know me – I LOVE LACE!

The cutout design adds a unique detail.

It’s sleeveless, but I have been wearing it with a cardigan and tights this winter.

The back has a zipper and the hemline is a subtle high low.

As soon as it warms up enough, I won’t need the cardigan and tights, instead, I’ll wear sandals. I love dresses that I can wear all seasons. For a different look, I have a wide red belt which covers the lace but adds a pop of colour and then I’ll wear my red strappy sandals for a dressy occasion or red ballet flats for casual.

International Home Interiors in Kitchener, Ontario is the perfect backdrop for this elegant dress. This store showcases exquisite, quality furniture and unique art from around the world. It’s worth the drive to Kitchener if you live in southern Ontario.

Here it is Apr. 8….as I read your post and the many comments, what can I say without echoing some comment?
Hopefully, I am at dance class when you wear it. Black accentuates the dress….red will provide a terrific contrast.
I notice you changed your bracelet after the first photo posted. I do prefer the bracelet in the second and subsequent photos.

Thank you so much Bob! I missed your comments while you were in Africa! How kind of you to catch up reading my blog. 🙂

You are VERY observant! I did change bracelets because I thought my bracelet with roses looks lacy to match the black lace around my waist.

I could were this dress at the Spring Fling Extravaganza Dance.
      Let’s dance!

  2. As a husband who enjoys shopping for his wife, I have to say one of my favorite items to buy are dresses. Instead of saying, “You should wear this because,” I observe her style and learn what she likes/dislikes. I use that knowledge and purchase while out.

I often receive stares while shopping for her clothing, and wonder why it’s strange for a young guy to shop for female clothing. When I see girls shopping for male clothing, I don’t think anything of it. Usually, they’ll ask to size me up, to determine if it will fit the person in question.

Is this one of your favorite styles?

Your wife is VERY fortunate that you not only take interest in her style, but also go shopping for her! I concur: no one thinks anything when women shop for men’s clothes, so men should be able to shop for women without getting strange looks.

Yes, this dress is one of my favourite styles, although I have an eclectic taste in clothes and so I can change my look from day to day, depending on the activity.

Thanks for stopping by, always nice to have a gentleman’s perspective! 🙂

  7. Hi Carmen,
Yes, I love high low, but it has to cover my knees, and go lower from there! I hate my knees too.
You always look good, because you have an elegant sense of style.
I wish you could come down and style me!

Super pretty dress on you! You know… I love the high-low trend on others, but I’m always looking for an excuse to cover my knees, so personally it’s not for me. 😉 Thanks so much for being a part of Fun Fashion Friday!

A lovely dress with the lace waist, I didn’t know what these were called either. We have Red nose day today.. in England and collect money for charity (Comic Relief) to help less fortunate ones in the UK and Africa. So I am totally in Red for Work this morning to participate!

Thank you Ute! I’m very glad my blog is educational 😉

I did not know about Red Nose Day, so there you go, we learn something new every day. I’m sure you looked good – Lady in Red.

I do love the high low thing because if it’s a shirt then I know it’s going to cover my rear. This dress has really great details and I love it with the black cardigan, tights, boots etc…but you’ll also get a lot of use wearing it with color in the summer. Cute!

  14. I am so “unfashionable” Carmen that every time I read your posts I learn what things are called! I certainly do like the high-low fashion and I like how you change it up so you get more out of one outfit!
