Vegan Dinner at Cambridge Mill with DVF

DVF wrap dress

What a special birthday I enjoyed: dinner at the elegant Cambridge Mill Restaurant, sitting at a table overlooking the Grand River, ambiance and wearing my mom’s original Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress from the 70s. Genuine vintage.

This timeless dress actually belongs to my daughter Jean now and she let me borrow it so I could wear it for my birthday. Thank you so much Jean! ❤

It feels magical to wear this gorgeous dress that my mom once wore, she was such an elegant lady with fabulous style. Being sentimental, tangible items bring memories alive and ever present. I wore two of her rings.

It’s like being in an enchanted castle.

I’m so glad many restaurants have vegetarian and vegan options, I had a scrumptious chickpea burger and delicious salad.

Dining while enjoying a feast for the eyes is a tasty experience!

Grand RiverThe view from the window was spectacular, even though the frigid river was covered with a blanket of ice and snow.

This restaurant looks like an old mill transformed into a luxurious castle. The photos below are from their website.

Thank you very much Bob! The dress certainly stands out: the vibrant colours, the style. I appreciate my mom’s style more now than when I was younger, I was always aware of her beauty and charm, but only now realize what great taste she had, that she chose quality clothes that stood the test of time. How many granddaughters can wear their grandmothers clothes? 😉

      Thanks for stopping by!

  6. That dress is great on you! Such a timeless, classic piece. Oma had impeccable taste and would be thrilled to know we both enjoy her style. I’m glad you had a wonderful birthday. The chickpea burger looks delicious!

Thank you so much for letting me take the dress home so I could wear it on my birthday. That’s the best present you can give me! I’ll bring it next time we meet. You’ve taken good care of it. I’m going to see if I can get someone to make a copy of it, find some fabric with a similar print if possible. ❤

Thank you , Jean, for loaning your Oma’s dress for your Mother to wear it. What a classic setting for a classy lady to wear a classic dress.

  9. I just love that you are wearing your Mom’s dress and rings. I’m sure it felt like she was sitting right there with you. Looks like a lovely birthday meal.

We’ve often been by the Old Mill but have never eaten there. After seeing that great looking veggie burger though I’m thinking the next time we are there we might need to try it out.
