Thanksgiving – A time to Dance

The Canadian Thanksgiving kicks off the autumn season, good timing as leaves start their dance to the ground, birds begin their southward flight and harvest-time is here: autumn in full splendor!

A robin in our backyard getting ready for the flight.

Come Dancing had their autumn dance and I taught several line dances.

I wore my high low dress and my favourite black (vegan) strappy stilettos.

It looks like a skirt and top, but it’s actually one piece that I wear with a belt.

This Thanksgiving I’m making the same turkey I served last year. My grandchildren love it, and gobbled it up! They were shocked when I said I made a turkey because they know we don’t eat animals.

Gathering with family and friends around the table to give thanks to God for the abundance of His blessings is a wonderful part of our celebration.

May we be truly thankful for all the good things God has blessed us with!

Life is good!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thank you so much Sara! I do love the look of high heels, but I don’t wear them as often as I’d like, due to mostly … pain 😉 My mom practically lived in them, she could walk in them with style and grace. Me? It’s a challenge to walk; you’d think as I dancer I’d have better balance, but I wobble if the heels are too thin. I wore them for the photos but changed into my dancing shoes which have a wider heel.

I love how our Canadian Thanksgiving is at the same time as the Feast of Tabernacles, a wonderful harvest festival of God’s provision.

Family and friends are treasures worth more than gold and silver!

      Chag Sameach! 🙂

  6. The outfit played very well together. The flirtatious nature of the dress, due to its asymmetrical design, and of course the strappy stilettos. I really like this outfit. It was a great choice.

One of my favorite accessories to purchase for my wife are heels. It creates this air of sexiness that enhances with every step she takes. I wish your family well during this season. Life is good indeed, whenever you spend a moment with family

Thank you so much, glad you like it and I love feminine, flirty styles! The dress is made in USA although I purchased it in Costa Rica.

Heels are definitely sexy and elongate the legs, but I don’t wear them often because they are not good for feet and back, so I save them for special occasions and times I don’t have to do a lot of walking. Does your wife wear heels every day? Nice that you buy them for her, you must know her size and taste or does she come with you to try them on?

      Life is good, enjoy it!!

      • It is always a pleasure. We are actually thinking of Costa Rica for a soon-to-be destination. It is one among many of course. I can understand the damage that heels bring, especially the really high ones (5″). She has a collection of heels, from low to high, as far as heel height. Whenever we go out, which is often, if we are in the position of walking for a long period of time, she breaks out the low height, where she says it feels like she is not wearing heels. When the occasion is more dinner/function related, she wears a higher height.

She does not wear them everyday. I know the sizes of every woman in my family. LoL. I know everything from their shoe sizes, to tops. I like shopping, so whenever I have to buy something, I don’t want to return and ask for this size, and that size.

As for my wife, I have known her size and taste in clothing since we were dating. She does not need to be present, whenever I am shopping. I see something and know immediately if she will like. The same applies with my mum. She loves shoes, so I know the style/color to buy.

WOW!! I’m impressed! 🙂 So many men don’t even remember their anniversaries! 😦

          • Lol. When you engage with enough women in conversation, you learn from the mistakes of others. Without a doubt, I do and say things to my wife, I know the average guy wouldn’t.

I do it to make our relationship as successful as possible. Besides, I love seeing others happy, and shopping seems to make people smile. It is not the gift itself, but the gesture of doing something just because. With anniversaries/Birthdays, I mentally prepare months in advance, weeks, days and then the minutes before. They are all stitched to memory

Thank you very much Ralph! Glad you like the dress, I bought it in Costa Rica last year and have worn it to a wedding, dinner parties and dances – at $40. worn 8 times – that’s $5 cost-per-wear. 🙂 Eventually, it will be free! 😉

      Have a thankful weekend.

  11. Happy Thanksgiving! Dance and vegan food sounds perfect! Thanksgiving is a great time to celebrate the harvest and life in general. I like the turkey you prepared!

By being vegan, you’re part of a social justice movement. It shows you have a big heart and care about ending violence and injustice to people and animals. This Thanksgiving, and every day, I will follow your lead and ask myself, “what have I done to make the world better today?”

    • carmen says:

Thank you so much Jean! Yes indeed, being vegan is not only about eating a healthy plant-based diet and caring about our environment.

      It is a compassion choice.

All animals are the same to me, so if I won’t eat a dog or cat, why would I eat a pig or turkey? Besides, I had a sweet turkey for a pet, he was rescued and his name was Titan: very curious, a gentle fellow and pretty clever too. Turkeys are not stupid.

My vegan turkey got eaten up really fast, kids love it (and so do adults)!

      Have a thankful weekend! ❤
