Art enriches our lives. The imagination and artistic expression of human beings fascinate me.
This really sets us apart from animals, although being sentient beings, they do not possess the ability to design or create (other than functional dwelling places, such as nests, beaver dams, etc.) for the sake of beauty and musings.
Walking through the huge doors and entering the great hall of the Met was magical; I felt the electricity of this colossal collection of art, a treasure house! Where to start? Every direction led to the treasures.
Can you find me?
Claude Monet is one of my favourite artists. I love sunflowers almost as much as daisies! I wore my new Monet T-shirt that I bought at the Met gift shop. Did you know Monet painted T-shirts? I don’t think mine is an original, I think this one is a copy. They match my neon yellow skinnies, so I have really made good use of them worn with various tops.
Here are a few of the thousands of photos I took. It was overwhelming! I suppose I could do a whole blog on New York City. 😉
Enjoying the beauty of the rotunda; the whole experience is so aesthetic and visually stimulating.
Meeting interesting people who appreciate art is always a pleasure.
I met a charming family and asked if I could take their photo.
Only human beings wear clothes, I find that fascinating. We are created very uniquely, in the image of God, with the ability to create. The human imagination is truly wondrous and amazing! I appreciate people sharing their God-given talents, making the world a more beautiful place!
I see us, the animals and the earth as His art and design. What people do is an extension of that creativity! Creation-not destruction.
Make a wish, but you may have to wait for your wish to be granted because there’s a line-up and it seems a lot of people are waiting for their wishes to come true!

So many comments….please endure one more (ha ha)…..yes, I found you right away…I would not expect less of me (again, ha ha)…..how did you get your portrait in the frame!!!? I love it.
I come away from museums with appreciation but not always with understanding. I tend to want to read all explanations….which keeps people with me waiting!!!!….. and then I do not retain much of what I have seen and read. Frustration!

Love this Carmen! I have yet to go there and I too feel the same about art, expression and creativity> Where would we be with out it? Love the photos you too, especially the one of you looking at the sunflowers and your gorgeous self in the Sunflower impressionistic top with those fab yellow pants. The family’s outfits were so great! Love their vintage look as a family. Love it!!

One of the best museums in the world honestly. You can find so many great items inside. From the paintings to the amazing architecture

It truly is an amazing place, we also went to the Museum of Natural History, the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and the Brooklyn Museum. Last year we went to MoMA and the Whitney Museum of American Art. The best part was that the entrance fee was by donation; affordable for everyone!
*Prices are “recommended” – any donation will gain you access to the Museum.*
In Scotland museums are free and accessible to everyone no matter their income.

I have not visited the Jazz museum. I am sure it was great. The beauty about museums–you can spend an entire day, and still not take everything in. There’s so much information within each museum.

The Jazz museum is small, but fabulous! As you say–you can spend an entire day in museums–it’s quite overwhelming! The Jazz museum has a personal touch, and you have to ring the doorbell to get in, there are no lineups or crowds, perhaps a well-kept secret. 😉 I highly recommend it! I’ll be doing a post about it in the future.

I love Jazz, but I also enjoy other genres. I love music, but not all music–some is just noise (in my opinion). When it comes to listening to music–my opinion is all that counts 😉

One of my favorite places on the face of the whole earth! I have hundreds of slides, and had a fraudulent letter from my legitimate department introducing me as faculty ( from my real department head! I was just a student.) They didn’t allow photos then. Thank you for the reminder of a wonderful time in my life.

I love the photo you took of that sweet family. They look to be right out of a Gatsby style movie. Love it! I didn’t know Monet painted on t shirts and that one sure suits you.

Aren’t they adorable! They posed for almost a minute while people were passing, so I could take the photo without other people in it. It almost makes me want to donate my entire wardrobe and start buying clothes from the 30s – ALMOST! 😉
As for my T-shirt, alas! I found out Monet did not paint T-shirts after all. 😉 I should have suspected that; the gift shop had Van Gogh Irises and other famous art. I’ve just added some T-shirts from the gift shop for you to see in this post and here’s a link if you want to order one …
