Life is a Stage

The sidewalk is our runway and the world is our photo studio.

Fashion AvenueThe Empire State Building is a magnificent backdrop.

Park AvenueI bought a new houndstooth dress in NYC.

houndstooth dressDVF Flagship storeWe are all thespians on the stage of life. Sometimes we choose our parts and sometimes they are chosen for us. We can audition, but the Cast Director will often decide the part we play. For example: if someone can’t sing, they will not get a singing part. This play in life has lots of comedy and laughs, but sometimes drama with very tragic scenes, because this play is for real.

What part do you play?

I hope you are enjoying your role in this play!

  5. It looks like I’ve missed a few posts! The skirt below in the previous post really caught my eye and these dresses in this post are fabulous too. I’d wear them all! Your daughter looks great too. Nice to see mother daughter spending time together out and about. I think I’ll pop over to her blog and check it out. Her tattoo is intriguing.

Thanks so much Joni! I’m behind on my comments because we are on holidays and I’m in Connecticut at the moment. I see you and Jean love tattoos. Her flowers are lovely and I love your butterfly!

      Have a great week!

The stage of life play…..the cast director is God…..we do not always play the role(s) he would direct but the more we follow his direction, the more we experience the peace of God.

How true Bob! Every play needs a director, and who could do it better than God? He really wants this play to have a happy ending. Through the comedy and tragedy, through the laughter and tears, His hope is that we follow His direction. The problem is, that He lets us write our own lines and ad-lib, sometimes to our own misery.

I’m glad that you and I have dancing parts in this play. 🙂 Today I’m playing the part of a cleaning woman, not so much fun as walking the “runway” in NYC, but someone has to do it.

Do our best and let God do the rest!

Hi Carmen! I love the metaphor, as we are players in a role. I would say there are some tragedies in my life ( my Ehlers Danlos disease with no cure), but I try and make it a drama with some comedic aspects in between I make the most of my good days. I love the first dress on you, lovely as I think wrap dresses are so flattering. I would go into DVF shop with you!! The houndstooth dress is lovely and I love the line across the waist defining it. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you my dear Jess! I am so proud of YOU! To go through this play with a disadvantage, and yet with your beaming smile and gorgeous look, no one would ever know the pain you go through! You are an inspiration, my dear!!!

I love how you turned EDS to Elegantly Dressed and Stylish! Life is not always fair, but a positive attitude sure helps focus on the good side of life!

      Blessings!!

Thank you my dear Dawn Lucy! Everyone gets the lead part in their story and I’m so happy you are enjoying your part! Know thyself; words of wisdom my mother often quoted, the ancient Greek aphorism–a warning to pay no attention to the opinion of others (unless the opinions are good!) 😉

My opinion of you is good 🙂

Carmen, beautiful dresses that you teach us. You look absolutely wonderful with them. I really like all three, but the last is my favorite, it looks beautiful. It has a pattern and a gorgeous print. I really like the finish on the sleeves and how to emphasize the waist. The dress is very nice capri, capri you know that I love, but I like to see it without them. With the other two dresses, your lovely legs are magnificent. The first dress more casual and suggestive, is very suitable for your figure and your activity in NYC, I guess it is very comfortable and cool. I love the print, v-neckline, and … your legs. Your hair in the last photos is really amazing, it looks really nice. Really, life is a stage, and all play the role that we have had, but you always, you are the protagonist of the play, and protagonist are also in the work of others. Nobody makes you shadow on stage.

Thank you so much dear JM, The dress you like best was bought in Canada, I have worn it before but never on my blog. The other two dresses were bought in NYC. You know I love houndstooth and Jean found them, so we both bought one. The first dress is a wrap dress made in USA, Jean found it at a charming little boutique we love to go to and bought it, I bought one too! 🙂

In life everyone is the protagonist of their story, but it is interesting how our stories are woven together and we share this wonderful stage of life. At the end we fall off the stage and some jump off too early. Very sad.

      Have an inspirational week!
