Decisions Decisions Decisions

Decisions have never been easy for me. Deciding what to wear can be a challenge, but it’s easy enough to change my mind; major decisions are another story.

To buy or not to buy

open concept living area

We’ve been looking at houses this spring and found one with a spacious open concept living area and a gorgeous view of a forest, pond and babbling brook. It’s a century old mill converted to a beautiful two bedroom plus den house: hardwood floors throughout with new appliances.

In life we have choices and decisions to make every day. I don’t have any difficulty choosing between strawberry and vanilla sherbet because if I choose strawberry today I can always have vanilla tomorrow. Deciding what to wear can be a bit more of a challenge and I sometimes put on an outfit only to change my mind and go through the bother of undressing and putting on another outfit.

Choosing this outfit was a quick decision to wear to view the house.

pink jacket Anthropologie

I bought this cute little jacket in NYC at Anthropol0gie in August, but I paid full price–ouch!–so it wasn’t an easy decision to buy it, but I’m glad I did.

I love this kitchen!

There would be money left over for traveling and clothes, the place is move-in ready–nothing to do. Best of all, a forest beside the house and a babbling brook behind the house. So what’s the problem? No garage AND it’s in another city, that means a BIG change.

It’s the lifechanging decisions that scare me! Knowing that what I decide will not only affect me but others as well. Considering the pros and cons can help sometimes but not always, for we don’t necessarily know the outcome and the profound difference it might make.

Some boxes have pictures and descriptions to help you decide but life does not come with that helpful info. We need to take risks and chances. We need to think and consider the consequences. Will we make mistakes? Will we have regrets? I doubt there are many who could honestly say, “No.”

Even if we don’t buy it, it gives me hope that we’ll find a nice place eventually.

Perhaps sometimes it’s best to just flip a coin!

update

I didn’t have to make the decision after all, someone else made it for me. I called the real estate agent last night and the house is SOLD!

Sometimes you miss out if you don’t decide fast enough. Has that ever happened to you?

What an adorable place, and I agree with you on the kitchen. I hope you did end up finding something just as nice though. Did you stay in the same city?
These big decisions are very hard to make. I have a very hard time with them.

I really love the kitchen! Enough space for dishes, ovenware and a lot of kitchen machines. I would buy the house just because of the kitchen.

And by the way, I like you style! It’s classy and chic.

    Have a good day

The house was beautiful and the surroundings really wonderful. On the other hand,it wasn’t an easy decision , so you was right to take time to decide! Sometimes things have its own course to follow…which turns out to be the best one! ( hope that my bad English is comprehensible! )
    P.s.
I almost forget to say that your jacket is very nice!!

Thanks for your thoughtful reply dear Dan! The more money involved–the harder for me to decide. Making mistakes can be costly.

      Have a lovely week!

P.S. Your English is not bad and it's 100% better than my Italian 😉

A beautiful house in a beautiful setting but your heart is where your family (at least some of it) is. I am relieved that someone else closed the sale. (Oh, selfish me…..your dance students would lament should you move away.) As always, you enhance the picture. You wouldn’t have a picture any other way. No bad hair day for you.

Thank you dear Bob, I’m glad you’d miss me! If the house would have been in Cambridge, I would have bought it in 5 minutes! 🙂

      Have a sunny weekend!

Deciding about chocolagte or what to wear is definitley easier than which house to buy. That is more life changing as you say. It does look beautiful but it wasn’t meant to be. I am sure you will find a great one. It must be fun looking at houses. Enjoy!

It was a gorgeous house, beautifully renovated and so tastefully decorated. Not many houses are so nice at that price. It’s fun looking at houses and getting ideas, but the houses I love are usually too expensive, especially if they have been upgraded. 😦

      Have a great weekend!

Oh man…I hear ya. Buying and shopping for a house is STRESSFUL. We learned quickly that once we found one we loved we had to act fast. In our neighbourhood houses sell the same day with bidding wars. It is a tough time to buy.

You look lovely despite the stress : )

Thank you dear Suzanne! The house on the river that I wanted did have a bidding war but I’m so glad we didn’t get it, it is a money pit for sure.

      Have a wonderful weekend!

Awww. Well, probably not for you … one must have a garage. Just make an offer when you decide you love it in the first 5 minutes! Love it or Leave it!

You do not need to take to the decision, right? Anyway, the river was too small for your liking. The house was very nice, but you love more open spaces, this home was not for you. The house served for a lovely photo shoot with your beautiful outfit with pink shirt and nice scarf. It was a beautifully decorated, but it does not seem, smell fruits and vegetables.

Thank you dear Josep-Maria, you’re right, the river was too small 😦 The decor was very lovely with a beautiful stone fireplace for cold winter nights.

      Have a happy weekend!

Oh, that house is gorgeous! I wish you could have it… But sometimes some things are just not meant to be ours. Maybe it’s for the better 😉

Yes, I really liked it and I was even decorating it, deciding where to put furniture as I lay in bed at night. 😉 The biggest problem was that it was in another city (near London, Ontario). It would mean giving up all my dance classes and starting all over again, plus my two son’s and grandchildren live nearby and it’s so nice being close to family.

      Have a great weekend!
