Like Daughter – Like Mother

My daughter Jean inspired me to start blogging, which has been a fashionable and fun hobby. She influenced me to become vegan and I’m healthier and happier for it. She gave me courage to get my ears pierced (I’m very squeamish about needles and pain – even though I had three babies with no epidural, go figure!).

This Mother’s Day is a tribute to my daughter, my firstborn and the first one to call me mommy. Thank you Jean for the joy you brought into my life just by being YOU!!

Fashionable memories we’ve shared

Jean is the apple of my eye.

(an ancient vegan adage)

When Jean was a little girl I used to buy matching outfits for us, but now she won’t wear the same outfit at the same time as me, except as a favour for this photo shoot in NYC. My cousin Marion gifted us with these Grecian-style tops.

Harlem condosJean has her own unique style. However, sometimes we still like the same things and during our stay in NYC we both bought the same blouses and pants at Bebenoir in Harlem. Jean’s photo was taken yesterday as a favour to me so I could post it for Mother’s Day. She’s worn the blouse before and the pants, but never together.

While on vacation in Florida, we bought the same red dresses.

What a beautiful post! It was so nice to see all those photographs. Me and my twin daughters used to wear similar clothes sometimes, for fun. Even now, when they are grown up we do it sometimes.

          Fashion is fun. 🙂

I have my priorities right, but I did buy three new pairs of shoes on the weekend (how can I resist a great sale?). However, last time I counted, I had more friends than shoes, that's a good thing, right Ralph?

Right Carmen !! Friends are treasures. 😀

I also have more friends than shoes. Mainly because it’s difficult for me to find large size shoes here in Spain. As the stores stock shoes from the far east I refuse to end up with crippled feet like the Geisha girls. The shoes are such small sizes !! I buy now mainly on the internet, but I am a sort of touchy-feely type and prefer in-town shopping.

The trouble is I can’t wear my friends on my feet 😉

Have a lovely weekend my friend. ❤

Thank you my dear Sara! Having Jean for a daughter is one of my great joys in life, but sadly, I only get to see her once a year. This summer we’ll meet in NYC again and I am so looking forward to it!

Thanks for your visit and I’ll be seeing you! 😉

My, my but you are so talented with your creative writings and photographic sense of great pictures.

Matching outfits certainly highlight your matching genes.

Perhaps another time you might just delight us by matching Jean’s swimwear (beachwear). Ha ha ha.

Good to see Daniel and Jonathan included in your Mother’s Day blog.
    Happy Mother’s Day, Carmen.

Thank you so much my dear Bob! You made me laugh with your comment about matching genes! I got my new summer bikini, but it’s too cold for the beach today. Can’t wait for summer and we’ll be going to Grand Bend and Bayfield on Lake Huron, while you are up at sunny Sauble Beach.

      Summer is fun!

Thank you my dear Ute! Jean and I often do like the same things. When she was a teenager, I sometimes wore her clothes and she borrowed some of mine; that’s the advantage of having a daughter with size and taste 😉

      Have a good evening,

My dear Carmen, a few days ago I took the decision not to comment on fashion blogs. My comments could disturb the person who matters most to me, and I want to spare her any discomfort. But I’ll make an exception for this post. You blog is very important to me, is not only one of my favorite fashion blogs, is the emotional blog, my good friend. In you I’ve found an elegant, atractive and a great personal style woman, but also a sensitive woman, a great mother, a person of culture and a wonderful woman who loves animals, nature and healthy living. So do not think your blog solely a fashion blog, it’s something more, much more. The tribute to your daughter, image and likeness of you, lucky for you and for her, is a great demonstration of love, a great mother. Ending the post with the photo of your two boys is another sign of your personality, your charming personality. I think the comment is too long, but I must say, loud and clear, that I am filled with emotion.

My dear Josep-Maria! Thank you for your kind words. Your constant support has been a tremendous blessing to me. You already know that. 🙂

You’re right, my blog is not just about fashion. Fashion is fun and an expression of our personal style and tastes, but there are more important things than clothes and looking good. Love and compassion are virtues. Health and our environment are urgent matters. My blog is a part of my life story: sometimes happy, sometimes sad, sometimes funny and sometimes serious.

Your comment is never too long! Discussions in the blog are good and a wonderful part of blogging. It lets us know that somebody actually reads our blogs, and more importantly, shares their thoughts.

Again, my heart-felt thank you for taking time to read and comment.

      Pura vida!!

  9. Thank you for this wonderful tribute! I’m so happy I changed your status to that of “mom.” I really enjoyed seeing all the pictures of us in matching or similar looks. I do have my own style, but I learned from the best. Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you my dear daughter for changing my status. 🙂 You mean the world to me and I am so blessed to have such a compassionate and beautiful daughter!! I enjoyed putting this little post together and reliving our fun adventures in the four corners of America. Wait a minute–what about California? Do we have any from your wedding day or in San Diego (I know we took some on the beach). Looking forward to more exciting times in the future: NYC and Germany! ❤
