Houndstooth skater skirt
Houndstooth and tartan are two of my favourite patterns; both originated in Scotland.
My mom bought me my first houndstooth coat when I was a teenager, wish I could find a photo of it. My aunt gave my cousin and me matching houndstooth skirts in 1965, I don’t know what happened to it.
I was happy to find this houndstooth skater skirt recently on eBay, made in USA. It’s perfect for my dance class where this photo was taken. Love how it flares when I twirl.
That was always important to me, ever since I was a little girl; the first thing I did in the dressing room when trying on a dress or skirt, was to twirl. If the dress didn’t flare out, I told my mom that the dress doesn’t dance. “I want a dress that dances.”
It’s now part of my houndstooth collection:
Covered Perfectly top, peplum top, cardigan, ruffled scarf, winter coat.
I’m convinced that you and all your clothes compliment each other…..that you don’t have, wouldn’t have, any piece of clothing that doesn’t make you and the garment highlight each other!

It would be so nice to see your old photo! I like houndstooth even if I think I haven’t got it in my closet…your skirt is delightful!

Hi Carmen, love this post and your houndstooth collection. Sorry I have not been around for a while as it was difficult to get internet connection in India. Great to be back! Sara

Very cute! I don’t have any houndstooth, but my daughter (who blogs with me) is obsessed with houndstooth! It’s adorable on you!

Wow… What a lot of houndstooth. And I don’t own any. Which, by the look of you, is a big mistake on my side. I really like it, just have not come accross it. Especially your coat has my love.

Love it! I had a houndstooth skater skirt in the 80s and sadly I gave it away. It was a timeless piece, and I should have kept it. I like houndstooth and tartan on men and women. They’re gender-neutral, classic patterns.

Thanks! Too bad you gave it away, that’s why I keep everything. However, I really need to part with some clothes, I’m running out of space!
Ummmm, I think you gave it to me! ❤

Dear Carmen, you will look gorgeous in your collection houndstooth. It is a beautiful and very elegant stamping. It’s fun to think about your need for the skirts to move, I find something great and very feminine. A moving skirt is really lovely. Pencil skirts are attractive, but I prefer the beauty of movement. In your dances that must be wonderful. The photo with the lamp reminds me of the movie “Singing in the Rain”, although she danced a man, Gene Kelly, I guess you dancing like that scene, it might be better.

Thank you my dear Josep-Maria! That scene in Singing in the Rain is one of my favourites! You see how Gene Kelly goes up and down the curbs? Well, I did that as a child all the way to school and I had never even seen the movie. (I still do it sometimes.) My mom said I never walked, I always danced.
Do you like the houndstooth jacket for men?

Dear Carmen, this scene is beautiful and evokes me a lot. Sorry, I forgot to comment on jackets man, I just noticed you look LOL. Both jackets are very nice, but I especially like the tartan, if you want you can give it to me. LOL.
