I envy my daughter Jean who is enjoying spring weather in Seattle, but we here in Ontario are covered in ice and snow so deep, you can come out in the morning and not find your car!! Spring arrives next week … really? I don’t think so.
While some bloggers are showing off their lovely apparel in their back yards and sunny outdoor locations, the rest of us would be blown away by a chilly wind!
I’m lovin’ houndstooth in everything from scarves to shoes! Here’s Jean with her chic houndstooth jacket ready for spring.
Here I am today in my double-breasted, empire waist houndstooth coat and knee-high boots. It’s sunny enough to need sunglasses, but blistery cold!
Yesterday we had yet another snow storm …
The snowbanks are taller than I am …
Our bistro table is on the front lawn. This photo was taken before Christmas. It’s nowhere to be seen now, shows you how much snow we have.
Some neighbours find creative ways of what to do with all this snow and build artistic statues like they have on Easter Island. Snowmen can get boring …
I just love it when wild turkeys wander by behind our house, which backs on to a beautiful forest.
Time to put on my snowshoes to go for a walk in the woods.
Can’t wait till I can wear a houndstooth skirt without a coat, and find these shoes somewhere when spring arrives.
Real winter indeed. I love especially Your photo showing statues of Easter Island. 🙂

Wow, I can’t believe you still have SO MUCH SNOW! You look great though! I’m sure you don’t want to hear that it’s 75 in San Jose today. OXOX

Beautiful photos … especially of you two lovelies. Jean’s a keeper, isn’t she? Both of you, so cute in your houndstooth stylings! I feel guilty wishing away winter. It’s the season I long for the most and wish away the most fervently. I love winter fabrics and colors, but the cold is so hard on our little business. I’m ready for all the flowers that come out in the spring, but mostly for the people who come out … time to return to my restaurant!
It’s the Vernal Equinox today, and it’s cool but sunny here, and my mares are chasing the tender new grass… may it stay that way for a long time! And my spring burst on you very, very soon.

For all the snow, you are looking cute in this black and white coat with the red hat! I love the design of this piece and I would buy it too. Last week we had a couple of days in the 40’s so 10 inches melted, but still cold here. It snow last night again and will do my pictures inside this week. I know what you mean about seeing all the spring clothes on the blogs and not being able to wear them!

You poor soul. Yes I heard that the weather is bad in Canada and everybody is so fed up with it. Nevertheless you look picture perfect in your coat with boots and the red hat. Great background those snow mountains. Very creative neighbours!
And I think Jeans hair(stlyle) looks ever so nice on her.

I can’t believe to my eyes! Looking at your photos I definitely don’t see signs of spring! Just magic landscapes full of snow and artistic statues…
We have been enjoying the most pleasant mild days recently, and I hope the weather will soon improve over there too!
You are very cute in your double-beasted coat! I often wear empire waist dresses…so confortable!
p.s.
waiting for spring temperatures….stay warm!

Thanks Ralph! I’m sick of this nasty weather! I don’t like snowmen – they are too cold and have a heart of ice. I will never be a snowwoman, it’s not my style! 😉

It must be awful for you with so much snow for so long. Hope you are keeping warm and cosy. I am, even though there has been no snow at all here in southern Spain this winter the nights get chilly. Hugs. Ralph xox

My God, dear Carmen, that much snow! That Cold? In Catalonia and tenemois spring and can walk in short sleeves on the beach. I’ve never seen so much snow in a city, I have only seen in the high mountains. It must be hard to live in place like this, come to Catalunya. The coat is beautiful and the red of your hat and your gloves in a nice color not so white landscape, I like. I hope to see you soon with your skirt and your shoes. Courage, for you too come spring … someday. (LOL)

Yes, it’s unbelievable, the most snow I’ve ever seen in my life, the coldest winter, and I don’t like winter in the first place! How wonderful to live in a warm place like Catalunya!! You are very blessed, my dear friend!!
Have a lovely weekend!

I admit, I feel bad when I post spring pictures. The cherry blossoms are out now, and so are the daffodils. I do love the look of snow–and the icicles on your bistro set. But I’ll be glad when you can enjoy nicer weather.
On a better note, that houndstooth skirt is amazing!

Thanks Jean! We won’t see blossoms or buds for a long time. I’ve seen some robins and grackles, but I think they are quite confused! ♥

I almost forgot to comment on the fabulous wild turkeys in your yard! You’re so lucky to have such handsome visitors! It’s amazing how healthy and lean they look compared to their genetically modified domestic cousins. I like to see turkeys alive and well. What a happy scene!
