Having a fashionable mother had a significant influence on me. As a child, I remember admiring her and imitating her. I was very proud of my mom. She would always dress with style and dignity.
My mom had a lovely wardrobe. (I spent hours playing dress-ups with clothes she no longer wore.) Depending on the occasion; she wore casual clothes, beautiful skirts and dresses, tailor-made suits, elegant evening outfits, party dresses – always looking gorgeous like a movie star!
My mom would never leave the house with her hair in curlers, as some housewives did during the 60s when they went to the supermarket. Being a hairdresser, every hair was always in place.
In those days we only had one bathroom and my mom got priority. By the time I was a teenager, it was a good thing we moved into a house with two bathrooms. Every woman needs her own bathroom–don’t you agree?
Some people pay more attention on decorating their homes than on their wardrobes. They take better care of their cars than their bodies.
I believe if you take the time to dress well and look your best, you will feel better and be your best. How we look after ourselves is a reflection of our personalities, what we think of ourselves and the value we place on our lives.
My mom was born on August 9, 1926. This post is in memory of her. A remarkable woman and my favourite mother! There will be no huge world-wide celebrations and no Google doodle to commemorate her birthday, but for me, she is my hero!

Your kind words mean a lot to me, especially on this day, I’m missing my mom! I tried to time it (back in June) so I could do my hundredth post on my mom’s birthday!
It will be two years in November since I started my blog, so it shows I don’t post as often as many do. Quite frankly, I don’t know how bloggers find the time to post every single day, plus respond to every comment and comment on all the other bloggers’ posts!! They are either fast or have lots of spare time! 😉 I have neither. Although I have a good life, my days are filled: I teach several dance classes a day (4 days a week and 5 in the fall), grandchildren to spend time with, company, outings and trips, animal rights activist work to do – plus laundry and housework!! WHEW!! Thank God I’m healthy!!!
However, blogging is fun, perhaps frivolous re: fashion, but it’s a creative outlet and somehow therapeutic. It takes us around the world while we sit at our computers and brings us in contact with some very special people we would otherwise never meet!
It’s a beautiful life and I’m glad you are enjoying it, too!!!
