Down By the River

Costa Rica was an adventure that I’m still enjoying in my thoughts and dreams; the ocean, the mountains, the wildlife and … shopping!!

I bought this dress in one of the fabulous malls in San Jose!! I wore it on my first day back from Costa Rica. Still a little cool so I wore a cardigan and leggings.

high/low dress 1It’s actually a one-piece dress that looks like a skirt and top. I have two high-low dresses now. It was my daughter (Jean, who made her own high-low skirt) that got me wanting one.

high/low dress 2The skirt part is very flimsy and flows in the breeze.

high/low dress 3The top part has short sleeves and the skirt has a wrap look.

high/low dress 4The dress has modesty shorts sewn right in so no problem if the wind catches it or when I twirl on the dance floor. That will be great when I wear it with bare legs in the summer.

high/low dress 5I love the black and white print.

high/low dress 6These shoes are made in Costa Rica. I bought them in Tamarindo (the coastal town where I was staying). The straps are changeable so I have black, nude and ballet pink (great for traveling–one pair of shoes with three colours to choose). The best part is they are vegan; man-made soles and the straps are made of a stretchy fabric.

high/low dress 7I love rivers and miss living here but hope to have a home by a river again someday. In the meantime, I enjoy walks along the river bank and I’m thankful for the beautiful forest in my backyard with a trail into the woods.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!!

I live 5 minutes from a river now…but I miss the sea. I’m originally from a coastal town Split in Croatia and I sure miss my Adriatic.

You look absolutely gorgeous….I love this dress and so cool it has modesty shorts sewn it…very appropriate for summer and bare legs.

You look gorgeous here. I can tell you are in your element.

That is so cool about the shoes. Perfect travel shoes if they are comfortable.

      Thank you, Suzanne!

The shoes are reasonably comfortable (wedges) but they wouldn’t be the only shoes I’d take on a trip. They are great for visiting, restaurants and short walks, but I’ll still need to take comfortable walking shoes because I do a lot of walking when I’m on holidays. I’m not one to sit around at a resort or lie in the sun or hang out at a casino. I like adventure and sometimes walk for hours.

      Pura vida!!

  6. Why does it look like you’re aging in reverse? You look younger every day. I really like that dress. The built-in shorts are a great idea for summer. And I am a fan of hi-low. Thanks for linking to my page!

Thanks, Jean!! Very kind of you to say! I attribute it to my vegetarian (now vegan) lifestyle, dance and the genes God gave me. No one believes your age when I tell them!

      Pura vida!! ❤

Carmen I love this look, you look beautiful. The dress is lovely. Looks like a two piece, please advise it was a whole. The skirt is cute, stamping is very pretty and the pattern is fantastic. I also love the shoes and they are perfect. Without stockings I guess it’s complicated to take him, right? Although it would be lovely.
