Spring is in the Air

I was happy to find another pair of printed skinny jeans to add to my collection, in H & M recently. These ones are coral and taupe paisley.

paisley skinny jeans 1 I am getting my last minute shopping done for my trip to the tropics. Flight is booked, passport is ready. Now all that’s left is getting my hair done and packing. I’m going to wear this outfit on the plane.

paisley skinny jeans 2I found this loose knit top, and matching necklace, earrings and bracelet in shades of coral. My fashion consultant, Jeanofalltrades, taught me not to be too matchy-matchy, but sometimes I just can’t help it!

coral top I painted my toenails with coral nail polish and I’ll do my fingernails to match tomorrow, then it’s bon voyage! I’ll be back in May when flowers are blooming.

  1. I am envious of your trim shape and upcoming trip; your outfit is lovely – however the flower belt is just wrong!

So excited to find you! There are so few fashion bloggers my age who are stylish and still have fun with fashion (but also managing not to veer into looking ridiculous). Those who are stylish often bore me by failing to have FUN with fashion; those who clearly have fun sometimes scare me because there are so many ready to pour scorn over anyone who doesn’t toe the line (I fear looking ridiculous but I also don’t want to bore myself by never wearing anything SOMEONE won’t consider inappropriate at my age for what seem to me entirely arbitrary reasons, like apparently we’re not supposed to wear patterned pants — WHY??). Somehow, you manage to be both stylish and fun (and not look ridiculous). You are an inspiration! Thank you!

Thank you, Gila!! I am delighted to hear this!! You express how I feel about fashion–fun without looking ridiculous and I don’t want to wear boring outfits!!

I just arrived home from beautiful Costa Rica and will be posting what I wore, hope you like what you see!

Do you have a blog? If not, would you like to be a guest on mine? Just send your pic and a little info about your style and age (if you dare) 🙂

  3. Hey, you’re coordinated, not matchy 😉 Fashion’s no fun if you can’t break the rules. For me, that means not matching everything. For you, it’s breaking the “don’t match” rule and matching! Love the coral. It’s a great spring color for you. I’d like some printed denim too!

Thanks, Jean! Fashion is fun and I don’t let the ‘experts’ dictate what I wear! 😉 e.g. Women over 40 are not supposed to wear sleeveless clothes–SAYS WHO??? Here’s the reason they give. “Wearing sleeveless clothes may reveal your skin aging.” How rude! How about ugly women should wear bags over their faces or an overweight woman should only wear a muumuu?

Our faces are aging, too, so are we supposed to wear a veil? SHEESH!!

Let’s have fun with fashion and not worry about age. Eating healthy and keeping fit is more important than covering up wrinkles and saggy skin!

Go vegan and dance is what I always say!!! 😉

I’m always matchy-matchy (although people have told me I match without being matchy-matchy). It always irks me to see celebrities in a full color with a different color shoe. I just love to coordinate different color earrings, shoes, socks (even bras and underwear — I feel weird if my undergarments don’t match!) And every day I focus on different colors, but do have my all black days too (even in summer with lovely sleeveless blouses).

One thing though, as a kid in charm school, I was taught don’t ever match jewelry because it makes the outfit look cheap — and I do agree with that wholeheartedly.

Hi Maryanne! WOW! I’d love to master the art of matching without being matchy-matchy! Coordination is so pleasing to the eyes, otherwise I feel my clothes are competing with each other instead of complimenting each other! You are a woman after my own heart–I love matching my underwear!! I have a coral bra to match this outfit!! 🙂

Jeanofalltrades gave me the same advice as your charm school, she told me not to match jewelry. Sadly, sometimes I match my jewelery, I guess I’m a little bit cheap, but hey, nobody’s perfect! You can see in the closer pic that my necklace and bracelet match (as do the earrings) I guess I would fail charm school–I’m a bit of a rebel – ha ha ha!!

They are beautiful! I really like the outfit, I really like how you dress. It is beautiful, delicate, and you look beautiful and elegant in it. I love the print of the pants, I like the shirt, the color, and also the flower detail at the waist. I love your shoes, they’re beautiful, and I love your accessories. The bracelet and necklace are cute. Going on a trip? Will you still post to your blog, when you’re traveling? Do not forget your fans.
